Broadcom's Partner Program Overhaul: Implications for Interactive CTO

In a significant move for the technology landscape, Broadcom has announced sweeping changes to its Broadcom Advantage Partner Program, set to take effect on October 31, 2025. These alterations include a reduction in partners, the termination of the white-label program, and a strategic pivot towards hyperscale private computing solutions. This announcement has raised questions regarding the potential impacts on IT service providers, particularly Interactive, which has articulated its response to these developments.

Dan Cox, the Chief Technology Officer at Interactive, addressed the implications of these changes during an interview with CRN Australia. He noted that the white-label program changes are particularly concerning for their customers who rely on partners that will no longer be part of the VMware program after the deadline. "We do have white-label customers who access our services through partners no longer in the VMware program after 31 October 2025," Cox explained. He emphasized the company’s commitment to ensuring a smooth transition for these customers, stating, "Our priority is making sure all customers, direct or via impacted partners, experience no disruption."

Despite the challenges posed by the white-label program's discontinuation, Cox clarified that the remaining changes would not adversely affect Interactive or its customers. "For customers on our VMware Cloud Service Provider (CSP) program, there is no impact to licenses; support and services will continue as normal," he assured.

A spokesperson from VMware provided context for the changes, stating, "This will enable us to deliver greater value, stronger execution, and a more streamlined experience for Broadcom’s VMware customers of all sizes and enable a truly competitive offering to the hyperscalers through our CSPs." Under the new CSP partner program, Cox confirmed that Interactive will retain its status as an Authorized VMware Cloud Service Provider (VCSP).

Cox also highlighted a broader industry trend reflected in Broadcom's changes, noting that the market is shifting from a "cloud-first" to a "cloud-fit" approach. This shift prioritizes private cloud solutions, indicating a maturation of cloud strategy among businesses. "This isn’t just a passing trend - it’s a meaningful rebalancing that reflects evolving business priorities," he stated.

As Broadcom refocuses its efforts on VCSPs that have shown commitment to its cloud services built on VMware, Cox believes that this strategic pivot will enhance value for VMware customers and establish a competitive edge against hyperscalers. "This will enable us to offer a public cloud experience on the private cloud that is AI-ready, scalable, and under sovereign control," he added.

Interactive is committed to navigating the ongoing changes in the technology industry with clarity and confidence. Cox concluded, "Change in the tech industry is constant, and our role is to navigate it with clarity, confidence, and care, ensuring our customers continue to get the outcomes they need."

The implications of Broadcom's revised partner program extend beyond Interactive, presenting a critical juncture for IT service providers and their clients in the evolving landscape of cloud computing. As these changes unfold, they will inevitably shape the future dynamics of partnerships within the technology sector, with a notable emphasis on adaptability and alignment with market trends.
