Hilton’s Thrive Programs Empower Team Members to Pursue Passions

In a bid to enhance employee well-being and foster personal growth, Hilton has announced the recipients of its Thrive Sabbatical and Thrive Reset programs for 2025. This initiative, now in its ninth year, aims to support the physical, mental, and professional wellness of nearly 500,000 team members worldwide. Each year, the company receives over 1,000 applications from employees seeking to embark on transformative experiences.

The Thrive Sabbatical program offers selected recipients one month of paid leave along with a $5,000 grant to pursue meaningful personal projects or contribute to their communities. Conversely, the Thrive Reset program provides a one-week paid break and a $2,000 grant for team members to recharge. This dual approach underscores Hilton's commitment to creating a supportive work environment that values the holistic development of its staff.

Laura Fuentes, Hilton’s Chief Human Resources Officer, stated, "Hilton’s Thrive Sabbatical and Reset are rooted in the belief that when our team members thrive, they can bring even greater care, hospitality, and compassion to the world and guests around them." This philosophy reflects Hilton's broader mission to create a fully human experience at work, which has been central to the company's ethos since its inception.

Among the ten Thrive Sabbatical recipients for this year, diverse projects have been recognized, showcasing the breadth of personal commitment and community engagement. For instance, Supaleeporn Chiadlaem, a culinary staff member at Conrad Bangkok, is set to establish a sustainable apiary in a local village, thereby supporting both beekeeping and community development. Another recipient, Troy Koltermann from Watford, U.K., plans to launch a photography workshop aimed at military veterans, leveraging art as a medium for healing.

The Thrive Reset recipients also reflect a varied commitment to personal and familial connections. Nurul Asyikin from Malaysia will undertake a challenging hike to Annapurna Base Camp, while Florence Cornish, an executive head chef in Scotland, seeks to reignite her culinary passion through explorative travel to Oslo and Copenhagen.

The Thrive initiative is part of Hilton's broader "Thrive at Hilton" program, which was introduced in 2017 to support team members' well-being in body, mind, and spirit. This comprehensive approach not only fosters personal growth but also enhances the overall employee experience, aligning with Hilton's vision of hospitality as a core value.

The selection process for these programs is rigorous, with a committee evaluating submissions based on the personal stories and the potential impact of the proposed projects. This year’s recipients were chosen for their unique narratives and the diverse geographical representation, reinforcing Hilton’s commitment to inclusivity.

In addition to the Thrive programs, Hilton continues to explore innovative ways to enhance employee benefits and workplace culture. With thousands of job openings across its 24 brands, Hilton remains dedicated to attracting talent that shares its commitment to hospitality and community service.

As the hospitality industry evolves, initiatives like the Thrive Sabbatical and Reset not only empower employees but also reflect a significant shift towards prioritizing mental health and personal fulfillment within corporate structures. With these programs, Hilton sets a precedent for others in the industry to follow, ensuring that the well-being of employees is at the forefront of organizational priorities.
