Škoda Unveils Limited Edition Elroq RS with Unique Matte Finish

Škoda Auto has officially unveiled its latest offering, the Elroq RS, featuring an exclusive matte finish, expanding its color palette to an impressive eleven options. This limited edition model, which is set to produce only 800 units, showcases the company's commitment to innovation and design in the electric vehicle market. The launch occurred on June 24, 2025, and has generated significant excitement among automotive enthusiasts and industry experts alike.

The Elroq RS combines Škoda's Modern Solid design language with a new matte grey paint, aptly named 'Matt Grey'. This distinctive finish not only enhances the vehicle's aesthetic appeal but also signifies a shift in consumer preferences towards matte finishes in automotive design. Veronika Straškrabová, project manager for the Elroq model family, stated, "We’ve been toying with the idea of matte paint for a while. We’re pleased that the first car painted like this from Škoda Auto’s Czech production plants is the Elroq RS in Matt Grey."

Moreover, the design process involved rigorous testing of various surface finishes and color pairings, as explained by Maria Kertzscher, Paint Specialist at Škoda's Colour & Trim department. She noted, "Choosing the base is important because sometimes adding an extra layer can make the result look dull and lifeless. A glossy base coat helps with matching and fine-tuning the shades between the car’s plastic parts and the body."

The Elroq RS stands out not just for its color but also for its performance capabilities. Equipped with a dual-motor powertrain, it delivers a system output of 250 kW, allowing the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.4 seconds. This model retains the everyday usability that has become synonymous with all RS-badged vehicles. According to Škoda's specifications, the Elroq RS also boasts a combined power consumption of 16.2 kWh/100 km, with zero CO₂ emissions, aligning with global sustainability goals.

The increasing popularity of matte finishes in automotive design reflects broader trends in consumer preferences. Matte finishes, once considered a niche, have gained traction across various product designs, including smartphones and fashion. "I think matte finishes will become more common, and I hope the Elroq RS won’t be the last car with a matte paint," Kertzscher concluded.

As Škoda continues to innovate in the electric vehicle sector, the Elroq RS serves as a testament to the company’s dedication to combining cutting-edge technology with distinctive design. The limited edition model is set to appeal to a demographic that values both performance and aesthetic uniqueness, potentially influencing future trends in the automotive industry.

In summary, the Škoda Elroq RS not only offers a striking new color option but also emphasizes the brand's commitment to sustainability and performance, marking a significant milestone in the evolution of electric vehicles. As the automotive landscape continues to shift towards electrification, Škoda's latest release underscores the importance of innovation and consumer preferences in shaping the future of the industry.
