MembersCap Introduces Tokenised Institutional-Grade Reinsurance Fund

Members Capital Management (MembersCap), a Bermuda-regulated investment manager, has officially launched its inaugural tokenised institutional-grade reinsurance fund, named MCM Fund I. The fund aims to provide sophisticated digital asset investors and traditional allocators with an innovative investment avenue that combines the reinsurance industry with the rapidly evolving landscape of digital assets. According to a press release from MembersCap dated July 7, 2025, the fund offers a regulated and collateralised entry point into reinsurance by providing direct exposure to natural catastrophe and cyber reinsurance contracts sourced through reputable global partners.
The launch of MCM Fund I represents a significant shift in the reinsurance investment paradigm, traditionally dominated by pension plans, sovereign wealth funds, and large institutional investors. This fund is uniquely positioned as an alternative to private equity, venture capital, and fixed income strategies, allowing a broader range of investors to tap into the historically lucrative reinsurance market. MembersCap has executed all portfolio trades with leading global reinsurers and top-tier Lloyd’s of London syndicates, ensuring that the investments are backed by established industry players. The contracts are sourced through the top three global reinsurance brokers, guaranteeing a robust investment foundation.
In an effort to meet the growing demand for diversified and uncorrelated investment options, MCM Fund I aims to deliver attractive yields and structured liquidity to investors. As stated by Lloyd Wahed, Co-Founder and CEO of MembersCap, “Every generation is presented with new technologies that unlock economic opportunity. To us, tokenisation and the blockchain represent access to better asset management for a different class of investor.” This sentiment highlights the potential of tokenisation to democratise access to investment opportunities that were once exclusive to large institutional players.
Patrick Barrett, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of MembersCap, further elaborated on the fund’s strategy: “Our investors—digital asset institutions, family offices, HNWIs—want to meet their goals of resiliency and long-term sustainable growth through new and more efficient means. With this novel approach, we’re seeing these investors view reinsurance as a core part of their portfolio for the first time.” This reflects a notable trend where smaller investors are increasingly seeking refuge from market volatility by accessing reinsurance as a stable income stream.
Dr. Benjamin Fox, Co-Founder and Chief Investment Officer of MembersCap, added, “This launch proves that tokenisation can bring new capital to help address the growing insurance protection gap by lowering barriers and providing access to the private reinsurance market.” His remarks underscore the fund's mission to enable a new cohort of investors to participate alongside larger institutions in an asset class that boasts a track record of delivering reliable and attractive returns.
MCM Fund I has been selected as the first fund in the real-world assets category on the Archax platform, which also features tokenised offerings from notable institutions such as BlackRock and State Street. Backed by blockchain protocols including Solana, Aptos, and Cardano, and supported by major financial entities like Coinbase and Apex Group, MembersCap is at the forefront of the convergence between traditional finance and digital assets.
As the reinsurance sector continues to evolve, the implications of this fund's launch extend beyond mere investment returns. It represents a transformative approach to risk management, positioning reinsurance not only as a necessary financial tool but also as an attractive investment opportunity for a wider audience. In a rapidly changing economic landscape, MCM Fund I could set a precedent for future funds that aim to blend traditional investment strategies with the dynamic world of digital assets.
