Pirelli Celebrates 40 Years of P Zero with 10,000 HP Supercar Parade

Milan, July 14, 2025 – Pirelli, the renowned Italian tire manufacturer, celebrated the launch of the fifth generation of its iconic P Zero tire with a spectacular parade of supercars at the opening of the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed. This event commemorated not only the debut of the latest P Zero model but also marked the 40th anniversary of a tire that has significantly shaped the ultra-high performance (UHP) segment since its introduction in 1985.
The parade featured a remarkable collection of vehicles boasting a combined output of over 10,000 horsepower, showcasing the performance capabilities that Pirelli tires are known for. Among the standout participants was the legendary Ferrari F40, which was originally fitted with the first-generation P Zero at its launch in 1987. This model epitomizes the high-performance ethos that Pirelli has championed over the decades.
According to Marco Tronchetti Provera, Executive Vice Chairman of Pirelli, "The P Zero tire has always been synonymous with excellence in performance. Celebrating its 40th anniversary with such a powerful lineup of supercars is a testament to our commitment to innovation and quality."
The parade also included the Lancia Delta S4 Stradale, which had utilized a unique iteration of the P Zero, designed specifically for motorsport applications, and the Lamborghini Urus SE, the first vehicle homologated with the new fifth-generation P Zero. Additionally, the Lotus Evija, once the most powerful production car, showcased Pirelli's pioneering work with tires engineered for battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs).
The McLaren Artura and Pagani Utopia Roadster were highlighted as the first cars to feature Pirelli's Cyber Tyre system as standard, allowing for real-time data collection and analysis, thereby enhancing vehicle performance and safety features. Other notable vehicles included the Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS and the Aston Martin Vanquish Volante, both equipped with Pirelli tires that emphasize the balance between performance and safety.
In a nod to sustainability, Pirelli also unveiled a new tire made from over 70% bio-based and recycled materials, developed in collaboration with Jaguar Land Rover. This innovation underscores Pirelli's ongoing commitment to reducing environmental impacts while maintaining performance standards.
The P Zero family has evolved significantly over its four-decade history, now offering a diverse range of products tailored to meet the needs of premium and luxury car manufacturers. According to a report by the European Tyre and Rubber Manufacturers Association (ETRMA), Pirelli's market share in the UHP segment stands at over 50% in the prestige segment, reflecting its strong presence in the high-performance tire market.
Pirelli's product lineup includes not only the fifth-generation P Zero but also specialized variants like the P Zero E, which combines e-mobility with sustainability, and the P Zero Trofeo RS, designed for both track and street use. The company has also released a limited edition of the original 1985 P Zero tire to commemorate its anniversary, now part of the Pirelli Collezione range dedicated to vintage and modern classic cars.
The event at Goodwood highlighted Pirelli's dual legacy of performance and innovation while paving the way for future developments in tire technology. With an eye towards electric and hybrid vehicles, the company continues to adapt to the evolving automotive landscape, ensuring that the P Zero remains at the forefront of tire technology and performance.
As the automotive industry embraces electrification and sustainability, Pirelli's advancements in tire technology could set new benchmarks for performance and environmental responsibility. The future of P Zero appears bright as it leads the charge in both high-performance and eco-friendly tire solutions.
