Spaceflux Secures £5.4 Million Seed Funding for Space Safety Solutions

In July 2025, Spaceflux, a London-based company, announced the successful closure of a £5.4 million (€6.2 million) seed funding round aimed at accelerating the development of its global telescope network and enhancing innovative space situational awareness (SSA) technologies. The funding comes amidst increasing demands for improved commercial and governmental space surveillance capabilities, especially in light of recent analyses estimating that a one-week disruption to satellite navigation could cost the UK economy up to £7.6 billion.

The funding round was co-led by the UK Innovation & Science Seed Fund (UKI2S), managed by Future Planet Capital, alongside Foresight Group and Blackfinch Ventures, with additional contributions from Seraphim Space. This financial boost will enable Spaceflux to enhance its tracking capabilities, satellite characterization, and protective measures in the rapidly evolving orbital landscape.

Founded in 2022, Spaceflux has quickly established itself as a key player in the space surveillance and tracking sector, leveraging proprietary AI-driven analytics and advanced optical sensor systems. Initially, the company provided critical data on geostationary orbit activities to the UK Space Agency and the Ministry of Defence (MoD). Its ground-based optical sensors are capable of tracking satellites and debris across all orbits by integrating visible and Short-Wave Infrared (SWIR) imaging. This technology facilitates daylight tracking and characterization of space objects, thus allowing for continuous 24/7 surveillance.

The need for effective space situational awareness services has intensified as both governmental and commercial entities face challenges related to orbital congestion, untracked debris, and potential adversarial interference. With the new capital, Spaceflux aims to scale its global sensor network, upgrade its flagship Cortex analytics platform, and expand its commercial tracking services to satellite operators, insurers, and government agencies worldwide.

Marco Rocchetto, CEO and co-founder of Spaceflux, expressed the company's commitment to enhancing space safety: "As space becomes increasingly essential to our economy, environment, and daily lives, it is also becoming more congested and contested. This investment strengthens our ability to protect satellite technology that delivers crucial insights to Earth around the clock, reducing collision risks, and supporting a safer, more sustainable space environment for future generations."

Rubina Singh, Senior Investment Manager at Foresight Group, highlighted the strategic importance of Spaceflux's technology: "We are excited to support the Spaceflux team in scaling their breakthrough technology to new markets. Spaceflux is taking on a vital role in safeguarding space assets we all rely on, while delivering strategically important space awareness insights for commercial and national security needs."

Alex Leigh, Investment Director for Defence & Security at UKI2S, emphasized the significance of the investment in the context of national security: "This investment marks a significant step in the convergence of defence and space, where dual-use technologies are becoming increasingly important to UK capability. Backed by both the UK Space Agency and MoD, we are delighted to be leading this round as it underlines the growing importance of resilient, space-based infrastructure."

Kimberley Hay, Ventures Director at Blackfinch, acknowledged the critical role that space technology plays in everyday life: "Spaceflux really impressed us with its collective experience and expertise in space safety. Many people don’t realize how much our everyday lives depend on space infrastructure, from navigation and communications to weather forecasting and streaming media."

As demand for reliable and sovereign space surveillance continues to rise, Spaceflux is strategically positioned to provide the necessary infrastructure, data, and tools to ensure the safety of satellites and promote long-term sustainability in space. With this seed investment secured, the company is focused on leading global initiatives to mitigate space congestion and enhance orbital safety through independently verified, AI-powered tracking solutions.
