BBC Radio 1 Welcomes New DJs to Its Renowned Residency Program

Starting August 7, 2025, BBC Radio 1 will expand its celebrated Residency program with the addition of prominent DJs Oppidan, KETTAMA, SG Lewis, and Taylah Elaine. This initiative continues the station's tradition of showcasing influential figures in the global dance and electronic music scene, providing a platform for new and established talent alike.

The Residency will air on Radio 1 and Radio 1 Dance every Thursday from 11 PM to 1 AM for a four-week period, featuring SG Lewis in August, KETTAMA in September, Oppidan in October, and Taylah Elaine in November. This lineup aims to deliver an engaging selection of music that represents the diverse sounds emerging from both the UK and international club scenes.

Major League DJz and Bou will host special one-off shows on July 31 and October 30, respectively. Major League DJz expressed their honor in joining the Residency, emphasizing their commitment to showcasing African dance music on a global stage. Their statement highlighted the significance of this platform in representing their culture and sharing its richness with worldwide audiences.

Bou, a Drum & Bass innovator, noted the personal journey that has led him to his own show on BBC Radio 1, reflecting on his growth since his first interview with Jeremiah Asiamah in 2019. His excitement about the upcoming show demonstrates the deep connection artists have with the station.

KETTAMA, set to perform in September, conveyed his enthusiasm for sharing a mix of new and classic tracks, while Oppidan and Taylah Elaine expressed their eagerness to connect with listeners and debut new music, further enriching the program's offerings. The Residency program, which will soon be rebranded as 'The Residency on Radio 1 Dance' following OFCOM's approval of the new BBC DAB+ station, continues to adapt to the evolving landscape of music broadcasting.
