Chuck E. Cheese and HappyNest Unveil First Animated Holiday Special

In a groundbreaking collaboration, HappyNest Entertainment and Chuck E. Cheese are set to launch "The Chuck E. Cheese Christmas Special," marking the beloved brand's first foray into animation. Scheduled for release this holiday season, the special aims to blend nostalgia with modern storytelling techniques, appealing to both children and families.
HappyNest, a joint venture between UTA and Stampede Ventures, has enlisted an impressive creative team to bring this project to life. Executive producers Zac Moncrief and Jon Colton Barry, both known for their work on popular series like "Phineas and Ferb," will serve as co-writers for the special. The character designs have been crafted by Bobby Pontillas, an Oscar-nominated animator recognized for his work on Disney hits such as "Moana," "Big Hero 6," and "Zootopia." The animation will be executed by Pixel Zoo Animation Studios, based in Brisbane, Australia, under the direction of Paul Gillett and Steve Trenbirth.
The voice cast features Nathan Kress, known for his role in "iCarly," as Chuck E. Cheese, supported by notable voice actors including Grey Griffin and Nolan North. A standout feature of the special is an original Christmas song co-written by Barry, Moncrief, and composer Ben Bromfield, alongside Jeff Barry, a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee.
"This project brings together all the elements of a soon-to-be holiday classic – a beloved brand that has entertained generations, a world-class creative team, and a timeless story filled with heart and comedy," said Sadaf Cohen Muncy, Senior Vice President of Production and Development at HappyNest. Melissa McLeanas, Vice President of Global Media, Licensing & Entertainment at Chuck E. Cheese, added, "We’re entering the entertainment arena in a way that builds on our nostalgic legacy while charting a new future for our characters as a storytelling franchise."
The production of this animated special signifies a strategic expansion for Chuck E. Cheese, a brand that has been reimagining itself to engage a new generation of children. With nearly 600 fun centers globally and a licensing division that boasts over 30 partners, the company continues to attract more than 40 million children and families each year.
This new venture follows the launch of the CEC Media Network, a digital platform that generates over 2 billion impressions annually through dynamic marketing channels. Chuck E. Cheese has welcomed over one billion visitors to its centers throughout its 48-year history and aims to continue its legacy as a multi-generational entertainment brand.
HappyNest's recent projects, including the animated series "Paris and Pups" featuring Paris Hilton, showcase its commitment to producing original children's content. Jon Colton Barry and Zac Moncrief bring a wealth of experience to this initiative, having worked on numerous acclaimed animated series and films, thus ensuring that "The Chuck E. Cheese Christmas Special" meets high creative standards.
As the entertainment landscape evolves, the partnership between HappyNest and Chuck E. Cheese demonstrates a proactive approach to engaging families through innovative storytelling. This animated special not only aims to capture the hearts of children but also to establish a long-term vision for the Chuck E. Cheese characters as part of a broader storytelling universe, paving the way for future projects that will resonate with audiences for years to come.
