Comic-Con 2025 Highlights: 'Coyote vs. Acme' and 'Bad Girls 2' Revealed

SAN DIEGO — Comic-Con 2025, the annual celebration of pop culture, dazzled attendees on its third day with exciting updates on two highly anticipated animated features: 'Coyote vs. Acme' and 'Bad Girls 2.' The event, held July 26-29, 2025, is attracting an estimated 135,000 fans, many of whom arrived in elaborate costumes to partake in the festivities.
The spotlight on animation began Saturday morning in Hall H, the convention’s largest venue, where the cast of 'Bad Girls 2' offered an exclusive sneak peek at new footage from the film. The animated sequel, inspired by Aaron Blabey's graphic novels, introduces a new gang of animal criminals dubbed the 'Bad Girls,' voiced by notable actors including Danielle Brooks, Natasha Lyonne, and Maria Bakalova. During the presentation, actor Marc Maron, who lends his voice to the character Snake, humorously described how he recorded his lines while being tied up on the floor, emphasizing the film's comedic approach.
In a surprising turn of events, 'Coyote vs. Acme' was also showcased, marking a significant moment for the film that was previously shelved by Warner Bros. due to budget constraints. Set for a theatrical release on August 28, 2026, the film features John Cena as a slick lawyer representing Acme in a satirical courtroom battle against Wile E. Coyote, voiced by Will Forte. The film's premise is inspired by a 1990 New Yorker article that humorously depicts a legal complaint filed by Coyote against the fictional Acme Corporation.
During the presentation, the panelists, including director Dave Green, highlighted the film's adherence to the classic rules established by renowned animator Chuck Jones. These rules dictate that Coyote, despite his numerous misadventures, must remain more humiliated than harmed. Forte expressed his disbelief that the film would eventually see the light of day, stating, "I had kind of given up hope at a certain point."
The presentation included a montage of Coyote's misfortunes set to Johnny Cash's haunting cover of 'Hurt,' which resonated deeply with the audience. Fans were treated to a six-minute clip showcasing the courtroom chaos, where Coyote's lawyer inadvertently causes a rocket skate to ignite, creating comedic chaos in the courtroom. As the crowd erupted in laughter, the character of Coyote was seen reflecting on his past failures while a commercial for a personal injury lawyer aired on TV, adding another layer of humor to the presentation.
Following the animated highlights, Paramount also announced an exciting episode of 'Star Trek: Strange New Worlds,' where the crew of the USS Enterprise will be transformed into puppets, designed by the renowned Jim Henson Creature Shop. This creative twist is expected to delight both Trekkies and puppet enthusiasts alike.
Comic-Con 2025 has already revealed numerous other exciting projects, including previews of 'Five Nights at Freddy’s 2' and the upcoming FX series 'Alien: Earth.' As the convention continues until Sunday, fans are eagerly anticipating more announcements and exclusive reveals from their favorite franchises.
