Emerging DJs Declan Knapp and Baobei Set to Perform at Radio 1 Dance Weekend Ibiza 2025

Emerging DJs Declan Knapp and Baobei (宝贝) have been awarded a prestigious opportunity to perform at the Radio 1 Dance Weekend in Ibiza, scheduled for August 1, 2025. This annual event, organized by BBC Radio 1 in partnership with BBC Introducing, seeks to spotlight the UK’s most promising and undiscovered DJ talent who produce their own music.
The announcement, made on July 17, 2025, highlights Knapp and Baobei as the winners of the nationwide talent search, which involved a meticulous selection process by BBC Introducing's network. This year, local and regional shows submitted one entry each to a final shortlist, from which a panel of Radio 1 DJs and producers selected the two winners.
Declan Knapp, known for his energetic mix of house, garage, and bass music, expressed his excitement about the opportunity. "BBC Radio 1 has been a big part of my journey, so being invited to play their Ibiza weekend is something I’m really proud of. I’ve spent years crafting my sound and sets, and now I get to bring that to one of the most iconic places in dance music. Expect a lot of energy and some proper moments," he stated. His track record includes notable radio play for his official edit of Groove Armada's 'Superstylin', which garnered support from established artists like Martin Garrix and Pete Tong.
Baobei, a British-Chinese DJ and producer, brings her unique blend of UK Garage and pop sensibilities to the event. Her track 'Hugging My Friends' was recognized as BBC Introducing’s Tune Of The Week earlier this year. "I am so looking forward to DJing for Radio 1 Dance Weekend and experiencing Ibiza club culture for the first time, which I’ve heard so much about!" she remarked, emphasizing her gratitude for the support from BBC Radio 1 throughout her musical journey.
Their performances will open Radio 1 Dance Weekend, which promises a star-studded lineup including renowned acts such as Alok, Miss Monique, and TSHA. The weekend will also feature various club events across Ibiza, catering to a wide range of electronic dance music fans.
Ticket sales for the event are currently ongoing, with additional programming planned to highlight the weekend's activities. Listeners worldwide can tune in to live broadcasts of the performances on Radio 1 and Radio 1 Dance, providing a platform for fans to engage with the event from afar.
In addition to Knapp and Baobei’s performances, the Radio 1 Dance Weekend will showcase a plethora of talent from around the globe, reaffirming Ibiza's status as a pivotal hub for electronic music culture. The organizers expect this event will further elevate the profiles of emerging artists in the competitive music landscape, ultimately contributing to the future of dance music.
As the countdown to this highly anticipated event continues, both Knapp and Baobei prepare to make their mark on an international stage, representing the next generation of DJ talent in the UK.
