Jensen Ackles Discusses Jared Padalecki's Role in 'The Boys'

As the fifth and final season of the acclaimed series 'The Boys' approaches, showrunner Eric Kripke has plans that promise to delight fans of the series and its predecessors. Jensen Ackles, who portrays Soldier Boy, has recently shared insights regarding the anticipated reunion with his former 'Supernatural' co-stars, Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins, ahead of the concluding episodes of the Prime Video series.

In an interview with People, Ackles revealed, "We see each other more often than you would think—honestly, at least once a month." This camaraderie stems from their shared history on the CW series 'Supernatural', which aired from 2005 to 2020 for a remarkable 15 seasons.

Reflecting on the unique experience of working with his friends in a new setting, Ackles commented, "It was weird. It was like inviting my friends over to somebody else’s house for dinner. I was like, ‘Listen, guys, don’t make me look bad. I got to stay here.’ They were amazing. I can’t wait to talk more about it because it was quite an experience."

Padalecki has also expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, "The answer is yes" when asked about joining the series, further adding that he is selective about projects at this stage in his career. "I think at this point in my acting life, I only want to work on projects that I really care about or with people that I really care about, and obviously, Eric and I are indelibly connected forever," he shared.

The anticipation for this season is palpable, especially after Season 4 achieved remarkable success, topping Nielsen streaming scores and setting multiple records for Prime Video. Kripke himself reflected on the bittersweet nature of concluding the series, expressing gratitude for the journey. "It’s bittersweet, but my primary feeling is gratitude," he said. "We have the best cast, the best crew, the most fun story to write, and something that is impossible to predict: the right timing. You wait your whole career to have maybe two of those things if you’re lucky. We got all of them."

The final season of 'The Boys' is set to premiere in 2026, and it will be intriguing to see how Ackles, Padalecki, and Collins' reunion unfolds on screen, particularly in light of their storied history and camaraderie. The show, known for its satirical take on superhero culture, has garnered a significant following and critical acclaim, positioning it as a standout in the crowded streaming landscape.

As the series concludes, both fans and critics alike will be watching closely to see how these beloved characters and actors contribute to the final narrative arc. The reunion promises to add a layer of depth and nostalgia, enhancing the viewing experience for long-time fans of 'Supernatural' and 'The Boys'.
