Marina Abramović Unveils Jewelry Collection with Chantecler in Capri

Marina Abramović, the Serbian-born conceptual artist renowned for her innovative performances, has ventured into the world of jewelry design with a new collection in collaboration with Chantecler, a prestigious Italian jewelry brand. This artistic partnership was formally introduced during a public event titled "Breathing Rocks" held in late June 2025 on the picturesque island of Capri, situated in the Gulf of Naples.
The event, which took place at the scenic Tragara vista overlooking the iconic Faraglioni rocks, was attended by notable figures, including Capri's Mayor Paolo Falco and councilors Salvatore Ciuccio and Melania Esposito. The municipal administration expressed their support, highlighting the cultural significance of Abramović’s presence on the island. Mayor Falco stated, "Marina’s work brings a unique dialogue to Capri, enriching our cultural landscape."
Abramović, who has not previously designed jewelry nor visited Capri until recently, described this collaboration as a natural extension of her artistic exploration. "This is my first foray into jewelry design, and it signifies a new chapter in my artistic journey," she remarked during a Q&A session following her discussion with Shai Baitel, the Artistic Director of the Modern Art Museum of Shanghai, and journalist Cesare Cunaccia.
The Chantecler x Marina Abramović collection draws inspiration from the island's natural beauty and Abramović’s artistic philosophy. The collection, set to launch in September 2025, includes a necklace, bracelet, and earrings, each designed to embody the energy of the stones, aligning with Abramović’s belief in the metaphysical qualities of materials. Baitel elaborated, "We don’t just curate the physical; we curate the metaphysical. Each piece is designed to resonate with the wearer’s energy."
Chantecler, founded in 1947 by Pietro Capuano and Salvatore Aprea, has a rich history, with past patrons including Hollywood legends like Audrey Hepburn and Ingrid Bergman. The brand is celebrated for its unique, artisanal pieces that appeal to discerning clientele. Maria Elena Aprea, Chantecler's creative director, emphasized the significance of this collaboration, stating, "Working with Marina has allowed us to explore new dimensions of design and artistry."
In addition to her jewelry work, Abramović is slated to debut an exhibition at the Gallerie dell’Accademia during the upcoming Venice Biennale in 2026, coinciding with her 80th birthday. Shai Baitel remarked, "This exhibition will be monumental, akin to the Oscars of the art world, showcasing Abramović’s multifaceted contributions to contemporary art."
As Abramović continues to bridge the realms of art and fashion, her collaboration with Chantecler not only highlights her innovative spirit but also reinforces the cultural significance of artistic partnerships in the luxury sector. The jewelry collection is anticipated to resonate with both art enthusiasts and fashion aficionados alike, marking a noteworthy intersection of these two worlds.
