Shakira Concert in San Antonio Postponed Due to Structural Issues

SAN ANTONIO – The highly anticipated concert by Colombian singer-songwriter Shakira, scheduled for Friday night at the Alamodome, has been postponed due to structural issues, according to a spokesperson for the venue. Richard Oliver, spokesperson for the Alamodome, stated that officials were initially unable to allow fans inside the venue due to unspecified ongoing issues. Later, it was confirmed that the concert would not take place as planned.
The postponement comes as Live Nation Entertainment, the concert promoter, issued a statement clarifying the reason for the delay. 'Unfortunately, Shakira’s performance tonight has been postponed due to structural issues. All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the new date once announced. More information will be emailed to ticketholders directly when available. We apologize for the inconvenience,' the statement read.
This concert was initially scheduled for Nov. 16, 2024, at the Frost Bank Center but was moved to the Alamodome due to what was described as unprecedented fan demand. However, the postponement of this concert follows a series of cancellations for Shakira's performances in Washington, D.C., and Boston earlier in 2025.
Fans expressed their frustration over the last-minute cancellation, voicing their concerns on social media. One commenter noted, 'WTH it needed to be announced before people spent money at restaurants and for parking.' Another user criticized the timing of the announcement, stating, '@shakira - you did San Antonio wrong. Canceling at the very last minute is just plain wrong.'
Parking at the Alamodome had been set at a standard price of $60 for premium spots during events. Oliver reassured fans that those who paid for parking through ParkHub would receive a refund to the credit card used for the transaction, and those who do not receive it automatically should contact the Alamodome for assistance.
As of now, it remains unclear when Shakira's concert will be rescheduled, leaving many fans eagerly awaiting updates on the situation. The Alamodome and Live Nation are expected to provide further information as it becomes available. This incident highlights the ongoing challenges faced by large-scale events in ensuring safety and structural integrity, especially in light of the heightened expectations from fans and the logistical complexities involved in organizing such high-profile concerts.
This developing story will continue to be updated as more information is made available.
