Tyler, the Creator Unveils New Album 'Don’t Tap The Glass'

In a highly anticipated release, Tyler, the Creator has unveiled his latest album, 'Don’t Tap The Glass,' which debuted on July 21, 2025. This album serves as a follow-up to last year’s acclaimed 'Chromakopia' and consists of ten tracks designed to inspire movement and dance. Tyler's approach to this album reflects his concerns about the impact of social media on public expression, particularly the fear of being filmed while enjoying oneself.
In a statement shared via social media, Tyler explained, 'I asked some friends why they don’t dance in public, and some said because of the fear of being filmed. I thought, damn, a natural form of expression and a certain connection they have with music is now a ghost.' He emphasized that the album aims to revive that lost spirit of freedom and expression through music, stating, 'This album was not made for sitting still. Dancing, driving, running, any type of movement is recommended to maybe understand the spirit of it.'
The album's initial reception suggests that it resonates deeply with listeners seeking a return to uninhibited enjoyment. Tyler hosted a listening party where he played the album twice for an audience of 300, who were required to leave their phones outside. He described the experience as 'one of the greatest nights of my life,' highlighting the collective energy and freedom felt in the absence of digital distractions.
'Big Poe,' the album opener, features Tyler adopting an alter-ego and includes a sample from Busta Rhymes’ hit, 'Pass the Courvoisier Part II,' which featured prominent figures such as P. Diddy and Pharrell Williams. While the complete credits for the album have not yet been released, the collaboration hints at Tyler's continued blending of innovative sounds and influences.
Historically, Tyler has opted for relatively short promotional rollouts for his albums, with 'Don’t Tap The Glass' being his least promoted project to date. In the past, he has typically given fans a brief notice before releases—15 days for 'Flower Boy,' 11 days for 'Igor,' and 8 days for 'Call Me If You Get Lost.' In contrast, 'Don’t Tap The Glass' saw no pre-album singles, marking a significant shift in his promotional strategy.
Currently, Tyler is on tour to promote 'Chromakopia,' with performances scheduled across the United States, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, and the Philippines. He is also set to headline major North American music festivals, including Lollapalooza and Outside Lands.
As the music industry continues to evolve, Tyler's latest work invites reflection on the balance between digital presence and authentic human experience, urging listeners to reconnect with the joy of music and movement. With 'Don’t Tap The Glass,' Tyler, the Creator not only delivers a new musical project but also sparks a broader conversation about freedom of expression in the age of social media.
