Four Teens Charged in Alleged Six-Hour Gang Rape of Sydney Girl

In a deeply troubling incident that has shocked the community, four young men have been charged in connection with the alleged gang rape of a 17-year-old girl in Sydney's south-west. The horrific events reportedly unfolded over a six-hour period on December 15, 2024, across various locations including Liverpool and Sadleir, New South Wales.

According to Detective Superintendent Jayne Doherty, who heads the NSW Police's sex crime squad, the nature of the allegations is among the most serious sexual offenses imaginable. "They’re in company, the degradation and the sexual acts they committed on this poor young girl in a pack, it’s horrific. It has even shocked my investigators," she stated during an interview with 2GB’s Ben Fordham.

The chain of events began when the victim was approached by a 16-year-old boy at a shopping center in Liverpool around 5:30 PM. Although he initially appeared friendly, the situation escalated as he coerced the girl into his vehicle, beginning a series of assaults that continued after other males joined them.

The victim was reportedly unable to escape due to the overwhelming presence of her assailants. "When the further attacks occurred, being a young female surrounded by four males, you can only imagine the stress that she was under and the fear that she would have had," said Superintendent Doherty, highlighting the traumatic nature of the incident.

Following the assault, the girl managed to reach out for help, contacting a friend who accompanied her to the Liverpool Police Station to report the incident. In response, police initiated Strike Force Dungannon, leading to the arrests of two teenagers just five days later. The first, a 16-year-old from Condell Park, faced a total of 24 charges, including sexual intercourse without consent and aggravated sexual assault in company. The second, a 14-year-old from Miller, was charged with ten offenses including aggravated sexual assault in company.

In the latest developments, two additional suspects were arrested on June 18, 2025: an 18-year-old male who was underage at the time of the alleged assault, and a 19-year-old man, both of whom have been denied bail and are scheduled to appear in court.

Superintendent Doherty emphasized the extensive support being provided to the victim, noting the long-term impact of such traumatic experiences. "This is something that will be with her forever. Sexual assault is one of the things that is carried very, very deeply inside and can really affect the rest of your life," she remarked.

As the legal proceedings unfold, advocates for victims of sexual violence continue to call for greater awareness and support systems for those affected. The case has sparked discussions on the need for improved protective measures for young individuals in public spaces, emphasizing the importance of community vigilance and support.
