Singapore Launches SG60 Voucher Scheme for Citizens Aged 21 and Up

SINGAPORE — Starting July 1, 2025, citizens of Singapore aged 21 and above can begin claiming their SG60 vouchers as part of a government initiative aimed at providing financial support and recognition to its residents. The SG60 package was introduced during the Budget 2025 announcement, emphasizing the importance of community support and economic recovery in the post-pandemic era.
In the first phase of the rollout, citizens aged 60 and above will receive S$800 (approximately US$630) worth of vouchers. The initiative aims to honor the contributions of older Singaporeans and provide them with necessary support as they navigate the complexities of digital claiming systems. From July 22, younger citizens aged 21 to 59 will be eligible to claim S$600 worth of vouchers.
The staggered rollout is designed to prioritize older citizens, according to Low Yen Ling, Mayor of the South West District. “We want to ensure that our seniors have ample resources and assistance during the initial phase of the voucher distribution,” she stated. The government has allocated specific resources to assist elderly citizens with the digital claiming process, which includes help from community centres and SG Digital Community Hubs.
The SG60 vouchers can be utilized at businesses that accept Community Development Council (CDC) vouchers, with half designated for spending at participating heartland merchants and hawkers, while the other half is allocated for supermarket purchases. The vouchers will remain valid until December 31, 2026, providing ample time for citizens to utilize them effectively.
To claim their vouchers, citizens can visit the official website at go.gov.sg/sg60v. They will need to log in using their Singpass account and will subsequently receive an SMS link from SenderID “gov.sg.” Additionally, all eligible citizens will receive a specially designed postcard in the mail — with those aged 60 and above receiving theirs starting July 1, and younger citizens from July 22. The postcards, featuring artwork by artists with diverse abilities, will also contain a QR code for easy access to the voucher claiming process.
Prime Minister Lawrence Wong has expressed the importance of digital engagement in this initiative, urging citizens to utilize the digital claiming process from the comfort of their homes. “We really want to encourage our fellow Singaporeans of all ages to claim the SG60 voucher digitally,” Ms. Low reiterated.
While the initiative is designed to be accessible, authorities have warned citizens to remain vigilant against potential scams related to the SG60 vouchers. The government reassured that no banking information or financial transactions are necessary to claim the vouchers, thus protecting citizens from fraudulent activities.
This initiative reflects Singapore’s ongoing commitment to support its citizens, particularly in the wake of economic challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. As the country continues to recover, such measures may play a crucial role in bolstering the local economy and ensuring that all citizens, particularly the elderly, feel valued and supported.
For further details on utilizing the SG60 vouchers and assistance programs, citizens are encouraged to check the official government resources and community outreach programs.
