Arteta Highlights Positive Impact of New Signings Zubimendi and Madueke
In a recent press conference held in Singapore, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta expressed his optimism regarding the club's new signings, Martin Zubimendi and Noni Madueke, as they embark on their Asia Tour. The Gunners have bolstered their squad this summer with the addition of four players, including Kepa Arrizabalaga, Christian Norgaard, Martin Zubimendi, and Noni Madueke.
Arteta remarked on the lengthy negotiation process that led to Zubimendi's transfer from Real Sociedad, emphasizing the player's deliberation over various opportunities before choosing to join Arsenal. “It was a long, long process,” Arteta stated. “He had a lot of opportunities to decide whether he wanted to come. The good news is that this club is amazing, and everybody wants to come to it. He left some very good opportunities to come to us.”
The manager has been particularly impressed by Zubimendi's qualities during the initial training sessions. “We are all very impressed with what we've seen in the last seven to ten days,” Arteta noted. “Once you have the player daily there and you see his character, his personality, his intelligence, and how much he's going to bring to the team. I’m very excited about it.”
Regarding Madueke, an England international forward, Arteta noted that the club's recent signings from Chelsea were coincidental. “It’s probably because they have some great players and a lot of players!” he commented. “But we try to focus on the players that we want to sign, regardless of the club they are in. It's probably a coincidence.” He expressed enthusiasm about Madueke's integration into the squad, highlighting the positive reactions from players who have previously played with him.
Arteta also provided updates on team fitness, particularly for defender Gabriel, who had missed the end of the previous season due to a hamstring injury. He confirmed that Gabriel, along with other players, returned to training in excellent condition. “They come back and they seem older, more mature, really excited,” Arteta remarked. “Gabi as well, because with his new contract he showed his commitment to the club and that he continues to grow in his role.”
Arsenal's Asia Tour includes matches against AC Milan and Newcastle United, concluding with a clash against Tottenham Hotspur in Hong Kong. Fans can stream these matches by purchasing a Match Pass through Arsenal's official website.
As Arsenal continues to prepare for the upcoming season, Arteta's comments reflect a positive outlook on the integration of new talent into the squad and the overall team dynamics, which may prove crucial in their pursuit of success in both domestic and international competitions this season.
