In a remarkable display of skill and precision, Davis Bryant of the United States delivered a standout performance during the second round of the 36th BMW International Open held in Munich, Germany, on July 4, 2025. The 25-year-old golfer finished the round with an impressive 12 under par, which included an extraordinary hole-in-one on the 12th hole, a par 3 measuring 166 yards. His performance places him at the top of the leaderboard, two strokes ahead of Norway's Kristoffer Reitan, who is currently in second place at 10 under par.

Bryant, participating in his inaugural season on the DP World Tour, expressed his excitement, stating, "I honestly don’t know what happened today. The hole-in-one really got things going – that’s always incredibly cool. I’m just very proud of how I executed everything, stuck to my process, and holed some key putts." His ace, however, came on a hole that is not eligible for the tournament’s hole-in-one prize, a BMW M5 Touring, which is awarded for an ace on the 17th hole.

In addition to Bryant's stellar performance, a total of 68 players made the cut, including seven notable German golfers. Among them, Marcel Siem stands out with a score of 7 under par, currently tied for 10th place. Siem remarked, "I’m very happy. Apart from the 9th hole, I took advantage of all the chances I had. All in all, I’m really satisfied with my 6-under round today. My goal is to start the weekend confidently and go at the flags more aggressively when I’m in the fairway."

The tournament is also notable for its charitable aspect; for every eagle made during the tournament, BMW Group is donating €1,000 to the Philipp Lahm Foundation for Sport and Education. As of Friday, the accumulated donations have reached €44,000, reflecting the tournament's commitment to supporting youth development in sports and education.

The leaderboard remains highly competitive, with players like Yuto Katsuragawa and Daniel Brown at 9 under par, while amateur Tim Wiedemeyer, who has garnered attention for his impressive play, is tied for 15th at 6 under par. Wiedemeyer, reflecting on his performance, stated, "I’m very happy. Six under par is pretty good. I tried to hit a lot of fairways and greens. And when the putter gets hot, you shoot a good score."

Notably, two-time major champion Martin Kaymer, who is seeking a second victory in Munich since his 2008 win, is sitting in 37th place at 4 under par. Kaymer acknowledged the challenges ahead, stating, "Overall, I was satisfied with my game and hit a lot of good shots, but I didn’t take advantage of the par-5s. Those are the real birdie chances this week, and I missed out there."

As the tournament progresses into the weekend, spectators and fans alike are eager to see if Bryant can maintain his lead and potentially become the first American since John Daly in 2001 to win the BMW International Open. The upcoming rounds promise excitement, with players poised to make significant moves on the leaderboard as they vie for the prestigious title and the associated rewards.
