Jakub Mensik and Francisco Cerundolo Set to Compete in Chubb UTS Hong Kong

In a landmark event for tennis in Asia, 19-year-old Jakub Mensik and world No. 19 Francisco Cerundolo are confirmed to participate in the Chubb Ultimate Tennis Showdown (UTS) in Hong Kong on October 14-15, 2025. This tournament marks UTS's debut in Asia, taking place at the newly constructed Kai Tak Arena, a state-of-the-art facility designed to host world-class events.

The Chubb UTS Hong Kong, backed by corporate sponsors Chubb and Humansa, features a prize pool of $1.1 million and will showcase a strong lineup of players, including world No. 10 Andrey Rublev, world No. 13 Alex de Minaur, 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios, and Olympic silver medalist Zhang Zhizhen. The event is anticipated to draw significant attention from tennis enthusiasts, as it aims to introduce an innovative format to the sport.

Patrick Mouratoglou, the founder of UTS, expressed enthusiasm about the Hong Kong event, stating, "UTS is the world’s newest, most exciting, innovative tennis league, with an entirely reimagined format. We chose Hong Kong as our first Asia event venue because of its international reputation for hosting world-class events." Mouratoglou further emphasized the importance of the Kai Tak Arena, adding that the venue’s design and the organization of the event by the Hong Kong, China Tennis Association (HKCTA) would enhance the overall experience.

Michael Keng, president of the HKCTA, echoed Mouratoglou's sentiments, highlighting the significance of hosting such an event in Hong Kong. "As the first event in the HKCTA’s 2025 Hong Kong Tennis Season, the Chubb UTS Hong Kong brings a thrillingly new tennis concept to Hong Kong for the first time. With our considerable experience in delivering world-class tennis events, the HKCTA is delighted to partner with UTS to introduce this revolutionary format of the sport to Hong Kong’s enthusiastic tennis fans," Keng stated.

Mensik and Cerundolo have both enjoyed successful seasons on the ATP Tour. Mensik, currently ranked world No. 17, claimed victory at the Miami Open in March 2025 after defeating Novak Djokovic in the final. Cerundolo, having regained his top 20 status in May, is poised to make a significant impact at the tournament.

The addition of two more players to the already competitive field is expected soon, promising an exciting showdown for fans. Tickets for the Chubb UTS Hong Kong with Humansa will go on sale on August 4, 2025, through HK Ticketing, marking a new chapter in the local tennis scene. This event not only represents a significant milestone for UTS but also for the future of tennis in Asia, as it seeks to innovate and attract a broader audience to the sport.
