Javon Andrews Signs Long-Term Deal with Wests Tigers for 2026 Season

Javon Andrews, who was recently named the Player of the Match for the 2025 State of Origin U19s, is set to join the Wests Tigers on a three-year contract starting in the 2026 season. This signing was officially announced on July 30, 2025. Andrews, a junior player from Souths Acacia Ridge and Logan Brothers, has distinguished himself within the Queensland junior representative system and previously participated in the Wests Tigers Pathways program during the 2022-23 season.

Currently, Andrews is captaining the Gold Coast Titans’ U20s team in the NRLQ Series, where he gained considerable recognition for his exceptional performance during the U19s Origin match in June. His pivotal contribution included a late try-assist and a sideline conversion, which were instrumental in securing Queensland's narrow 23-22 victory. This performance has positioned him as one of the promising young talents in rugby league.

"I'm excited to be coming back to the Tigers," said Andrews, expressing his enthusiasm about rejoining the club. He emphasized the importance of learning from seasoned players, particularly Benji Marshall, whom he regards as one of the best halves in the sport. He conveyed his eagerness to integrate into the club’s culture, further develop his skills, and mature as a player.

Andrews honed his skills at Marsden State High School, where he consistently excelled in various rugby league tournaments. Recently, he made his Queensland Cup debut playing for the Tweed Seagulls. The Wests Tigers organization has warmly welcomed Andrews back, highlighting their excitement for his return and potential contributions to the team.

The recruitment of Andrews comes at a pivotal time for the Wests Tigers as they aim to fortify their roster with emerging talent. According to NRL analyst Mark Thompson, Andrews’ signing exemplifies the club's commitment to nurturing young, homegrown players who can significantly impact the team's future.

The Wests Tigers have previously acknowledged their respect for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, recognizing their cultural significance in the communities they represent. This cultural commitment is reflected in the club's initiative to foster local talent like Andrews, promising a focus on community engagement alongside competitive performance.

As the 2026 season approaches, the Wests Tigers are looking forward to integrating Andrews into their lineup, which may influence their strategies and overall success in the upcoming NRL season. The club's management believes that nurturing young players like Andrews not only enhances team performance but also reinforces the club's legacy in rugby league.
