LA28 Olympic Volleyball and Beach Volleyball Schedule Announced

The LA28 Organising Committee has formally unveiled the competition schedule for volleyball and beach volleyball at the upcoming Olympic Games, set to take place from July 14 to July 30, 2028. This announcement comes just three years ahead of the highly anticipated event, which is expected to attract a global audience eager for thrilling athletic performances.

Volleyball will be contested at the Anaheim Arena, a premier venue renowned for hosting major entertainment and sporting events. The beach volleyball competitions, on the other hand, will occur at Alamitos Beach in Long Beach, California, a picturesque location that has been designated as an official venue for the LA28 Games. This setting promises to provide a stunning backdrop for one of the Olympics' most dynamic sports.

According to the confirmed schedule, the preliminary rounds of beach volleyball will run from Saturday, July 15, to Saturday, July 22, with three daily sessions for both the men's and women's competitions. Notably, on Saturday, July 22, there will be two sessions instead of three. The Round of 16 is slated for July 23 and 24, featuring four sessions for each gender. Quarterfinal matches will occur on July 25 and 26, culminating in the semifinals on July 27. The champions will be crowned in evening ceremonies on July 28 for the men and July 29 for the women.

Simultaneously, volleyball will also commence on July 15, concluding its preliminary rounds by July 23. Each day will feature four sessions for both men's and women's competitions. The quarterfinals are scheduled for July 24 and 25, with semifinals following on July 26 and 27. The bronze and gold medal matches will take place from July 28 to July 30, marking the conclusion of the volleyball events at LA28.

This announcement follows the successful Olympic Games in Paris 2024, where volleyball and beach volleyball garnered record-breaking viewership and captivated audiences worldwide. Dr. Mark Thompson, a sports management professor at the University of Southern California, stated, "The success of the Paris 2024 Games has set a high bar for LA28, and the confirmed schedule is a positive step towards building excitement for these events."

The Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) has committed to collaborating closely with the LA28 Organising Committee to ensure a memorable experience for both athletes and fans. However, as with previous Olympic Games, the provisional competition schedule is subject to change as the event date approaches. A more detailed competition schedule, including specific gender order for the tournaments, is expected to be released later this year.

The anticipation surrounding the LA28 Olympics underscores the enduring popularity of volleyball and beach volleyball, as these sports continue to attract a diverse and enthusiastic global fan base. With the venue selections and schedule now confirmed, stakeholders are optimistic about the upcoming Games' potential to inspire future generations of athletes and fans alike.
