LIV Golf and HSBC Forge Strategic Partnership to Elevate Global Golf

In a landmark announcement made on July 10, 2025, LIV Golf, the revolutionary professional golf league, has entered into a multi-year partnership with HSBC, one of the world's foremost banking and financial services organizations. The collaboration marks HSBC's inaugural association with a global golf league and is poised to significantly impact the sport's reach and accessibility worldwide.
The partnership will encompass LIV Golf's comprehensive 14-event global season and provide backing for two of its thirteen teams, beginning with the LIV Golf Andalucía event scheduled from July 11-13 at the prestigious Real Club Valderrama in Spain. According to Barry O’Byrne, HSBC’s CEO of International Wealth and Premier Banking, the collaboration aims to foster excitement among golf enthusiasts and clients alike while enhancing engagement with a new generation of players.
“This partnership is a natural fit, given HSBC’s two-decade legacy in promoting golf,” O’Byrne stated. “We are excited to work with LIV Golf to attract new audiences and promote financial literacy initiatives, thus opening doors for future golfers.”
Scott O’Neil, the CEO of LIV Golf, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the synergy between HSBC's extensive global presence and LIV Golf’s mission to redefine the sport for modern audiences. “HSBC’s commitment to advancing golf is inspiring, and together we will engage younger fans and connect through culture and innovation,” O’Neil remarked.
As part of the partnership, HSBC will provide team-specific support for Crushers GC, led by Bryson DeChambeau, and Majesticks GC, co-captained by notable golfers Lee Westwood, Ian Poulter, and Henrik Stenson. Additionally, HSBC will serve as the presenting partner for the “9 to Play” broadcast segment during LIV Golf’s live broadcasts, potentially reaching over 875 million households across more than 120 international markets.
DeChambeau highlighted the partnership's potential to enhance the competitive spirit of the sport, stating, “LIV Golf and Crushers GC deliver both the game and golf culture to new generations. We are proud to align with HSBC, a brand that shares our vision of expanding access to golf.” Westwood also acknowledged the significance of the partnership, noting, “It is an honor to represent HSBC as we promote golf on a global stage.”
HSBC’s long-standing support of golf includes sponsorship of numerous prestigious tournaments, such as The Open and the AIG Women’s Open, further solidifying its role in shaping the sport. This collaboration with LIV Golf not only reinforces the global momentum behind the league but also represents a strategic move to engage a broader audience, thereby unlocking new potential for both organizations and the sport itself.
As LIV Golf prepares to launch its new season with HSBC as a pivotal ally, the implications of this partnership may resonate beyond the fairways, fostering a future where golf becomes more accessible and enjoyable for all.
