New Zealand Announces Exciting Summer Schedule for Black Caps and White Ferns

New Zealand cricket authorities have unveiled an ambitious schedule for the upcoming home summer, featuring a total of 46 days of international cricket across multiple formats. The announcement comes ahead of a packed season for both the men's and women's teams, where fans can expect high-stakes matches against formidable opponents.

The highlight of the summer will be the three-match ICC World Test Championship series against the West Indies, set to take place in December 2025. This series marks a significant moment as it continues New Zealand's journey in the World Test Championship, in which they emerged victorious in the inaugural edition in 2021.

In addition to the West Indies series, the Black Caps will host their traditional rivals Australia and England in a white-ball series, intensifying the competitive atmosphere of the summer. The matches against Australia will be played in a three-match T20I series from October 1 to October 4, 2025, at Mount Maunganui. Following this, England will visit for three T20Is and three ODIs in late October. This scheduling not only promotes local cricket but also showcases New Zealand as a vibrant cricketing nation on the international stage.

Kyle Jamieson, a key player for the Black Caps, expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming fixtures. “It feels like a marquee summer,” he stated. “The calibre of opposition means we’ll be constantly tested for the duration of the season, and that’s what you want as a cricketer. It’s always special to play in front of a home crowd.”

Meanwhile, the White Ferns are gearing up for their own busy schedule, with a focus on the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in India and Sri Lanka, which is set to take place later in 2026. Their fixtures include six white-ball matches against Zimbabwe and a series against South Africa, where they will play a mix of T20 and ODI matches. Georgia Plimmer, a prominent batter for the White Ferns, highlighted the excitement surrounding the season, stating, “We want to play as much cricket as we can, especially in front of our home fans.”
