Porsche 963 Cars Generate €600,000 for Charity at Le Mans 2025

At the recent 24 Hours of Le Mans, held on June 14-15, 2025, the Porsche Penske Motorsport team achieved a remarkable feat not only in racing but also in philanthropy. The three Porsche 963 cars completed a combined total of 1,159 laps, contributing to a charitable initiative that raised €600,000 through its 'Racing for Charity' program. For every lap completed, Porsche donated €500 to support critically ill children, showcasing the brand's commitment to social responsibility alongside its competitive spirit.
Launched in 2023, the 'Racing for Charity' initiative has become a significant part of Porsche's corporate social responsibility agenda. Since its inception, the program has raised over €2.4 million, providing critical funding to non-profit organizations dedicated to aiding children in need. This year's funds will be distributed equally between Interplast Germany e.V. and Kinderherzen retten e.V., both of which focus on providing medical assistance to seriously ill children worldwide.
According to Professor Friedhelm Beyersdorf, Founder of Kinderherzen retten e.V., "Our organization collaborates closely with the University Hospital Freiburg to facilitate life-changing surgeries for children suffering from heart conditions. The generous contributions from Porsche play a pivotal role in enabling us to continue our mission."
Dr. Michael Steiner, a member of the Executive Board for Research and Development at Porsche, emphasized the company's ongoing commitment to charitable endeavors. "Through initiatives like Racing for Charity, we aim to make a meaningful impact in areas where our support can truly change lives. This aligns with our broader goals of promoting sustainability and social responsibility," he stated.
The 2025 Le Mans race saw the winning car, a Ferrari #83, cross the finish line after 387 laps, just ahead of the second-place Porsche 963 #6, driven by Kévin Estre, Laurens Vanthoor, and Matt Campbell. The total distance covered by the three Porsche cars was approximately 15,792.5 kilometers, demonstrating not only their competitiveness but also their role in raising funds for a noble cause.
The ACO (Automobile Club de l'Ouest), organizers of the Le Mans event, recognized Porsche Penske Motorsport with the Sustainability Endurance Award for its substantial commitment to sustainability and social responsibility, underscoring the importance of such initiatives in the motorsport industry.
In 2024 alone, Porsche supported over 110 charitable projects worldwide, encompassing diverse areas such as sports, culture, environment, science, and education. This robust commitment reflects the company’s holistic approach to philanthropy, where they not only aim for excellence on the racetrack but also strive to uplift communities through their corporate initiatives.
As the automotive industry continues to evolve, the integration of philanthropy into corporate strategies is becoming increasingly significant. Porsche's Racing for Charity initiative exemplifies how businesses can leverage their platforms for social good, setting a precedent for others in the industry to follow. The future of such initiatives may pave the way for more comprehensive corporate responsibility strategies, benefiting society at large while enhancing brand loyalty and public perception.
In conclusion, Porsche's dual achievement at Le Mans, combining sporting prowess with a commitment to charity, serves as a reminder of the powerful role that corporate entities can play in addressing social issues. As the company looks ahead, its ongoing support for charitable organizations promises to continue making a profound impact on the lives of many children around the globe.
