Rafael Câmara Optimistic About TRIDENT's Performance Ahead of Silverstone

Rafael Câmara, the Brazilian driver for TRIDENT, expressed optimism about the team's upcoming performance at the Silverstone Circuit following a challenging weekend at the Spielberg Grand Prix. Despite finishing fifth in the Feature Race after the disqualification of Championship leader Nikola Tsolov, Câmara acknowledged that the team faced difficulties throughout the event, yet remained focused on the positives moving forward.
During the Spielberg weekend, which took place on June 30, 2025, Câmara started the Feature Race from seventh position. He made a commendable start, advancing to fourth place before executing overtakes on competitors Noah Stromsted and Ugo Ugochukwu, placing him second behind Tsolov by Lap 7. However, as the race progressed, Câmara experienced a decline in pace, ultimately crossing the finish line in sixth place, which was later improved to fifth due to Tsolov's disqualification.
Câmara reflected on his performance, stating, "It was not the weekend we expected. In the Sprint Race, from my side it was not very good, but I was able to reset well and do a good race today. Unfortunately, we don’t really understand what exactly the problem was; we had this massive drop at the end. Even for myself, I was not pushing that much. We will understand it for Silverstone, learn the mistakes from the weekend and come back stronger."
Starting from a low point in qualifying, Câmara described his strategy, noting a small mistake that affected his performance. "I did the first push, and then I did a small mistake in T1. So I decided to abort it and then after I went on the sausage kerb, I started to feel like the rear left was an issue. But also, I didn’t position myself well for the last push, so I started very close to another car. The lap I did was not bad; I was just alone, so we were missing the tow."
Despite these challenges, Câmara emphasized the importance of focusing on improvement. "There’s always some positive things. Without this, maybe we wouldn’t have seen certain things to learn. We are always working hard to see what we can do better, and for sure there are positives."
Now leading the championship by 24 points, an increase from a mere one-point lead before Tsolov’s disqualification, Câmara remains cautious about the title race. "There are still eight races, four rounds, and plenty of points to play for. I think we have been strong; we just need to focus on our job and see where we can end up. If you start to think too much about the Championship, you get into overthinking, so I prefer to focus on the moment."
Looking ahead to the Silverstone race, Câmara is confident in his team’s capabilities. "I think we are going to be strong for Silverstone; we have always been strong there, so we need to learn from the things we did this weekend and move on."
Câmara's comments reflect a determined mindset as he prepares for the next round of the championship, where he aims to build on the lessons learned in Spielberg and ensure TRIDENT performs at its best on the iconic British track.
