Riley Owen Signs Contract Extension with Brentford FC Until 2026

Brentford, England – Midfielder Riley Owen has officially signed a new contract with Brentford FC, extending his tenure with the club until at least the summer of 2026. Owen, who has emerged as a key player for Brentford's B team, made significant contributions during the last season, participating in 40 matches and playing 90 minutes in 28 of those games, showcasing his reliability in the midfield.

The 20-year-old Owen joined Brentford B in August 2023 after a successful trial period and has since demonstrated a steady progression in his football career. Under the guidance of former Brentford B head coach Neil MacFarlane, he has flourished, exhibiting a calmness in possession and the ability to advance play effectively under pressure.

Brentford's technical director, Lee Dykes, praised Owen's technical abilities and his impact on games from the midfield position. In a statement, Dykes said, "Riley is a player with a high technical level and has the ability to influence games from midfield. He has excelled in the B team, and we believe we can help him develop to another level over the next few years."

Reflecting on his journey with the club, Owen expressed gratitude for the opportunities afforded to him and his desire to continue his development. "I’ve grown a lot since I joined the club," he stated. "I want that to continue, wherever and whatever that looks like. I’m just focused on giving my all and making the most of whatever comes next."

Last season, Owen formed a formidable partnership with team-mate Ethan Brierley, who recently completed a season-long loan move to Exeter City. Both players were instrumental in their midfield roles, contributing to their team's successes throughout the campaign. "We worked well together, me and Ethan," Owen noted, highlighting their collaborative efforts on the pitch. "I’m really pleased for him that he’s out on loan now and getting the chance to show what he can do."

Despite not achieving their goal of winning the Premier League Cup or the U21 PDL title, Owen remains optimistic about the season, stating, "Overall, it was a good season, for the team and for me personally, so I’m very happy about it."

With his new contract in place, Owen is eager to continue his journey with Brentford FC. The club’s management is hopeful that Owen's development will lead to greater contributions at higher levels of competition in the future. As the new season approaches, fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see how Owen's career unfolds at Brentford, as he continues to build on his promising foundation in professional football.
