Robert Cash and JJ Tracy Secure First ATP Tour Doubles Title in Los Cabos

In a thrilling final match at the Mifel Tennis Open in Los Cabos, Americans Robert Cash and JJ Tracy achieved a significant milestone in their professional tennis careers by claiming their first ATP Tour doubles title on Saturday, July 20, 2025. The duo triumphed over the Australian pairing of Blake Bayldon and Tristan Schoolkate with a score of 7-6(4), 6-4, marking their inaugural victory at the ATP level after a series of successful performances in Challenger events.

Cash and Tracy's victory is particularly noteworthy as they become the third American team to win the Los Cabos tournament, following John Isner and Hans Hach Verdugo’s 2021 win and William Blumberg’s partnership with Miomir Kecmanovic in 2022. Their successful run in Los Cabos comes on the heels of a strong performance at the Hall of Fame Open in Newport, where they previously captured a title in a smaller Challenger event.

"It's huge. It's our first ATP event win ever," Cash stated, emphasizing the significance of their victory. "Hopefully we can take this momentum and keep it rolling into the hard court swing in the US and beyond. It means so much. I am so happy to get it here in Los Cabos and hopefully it's a first of many."

The match itself showcased the resilience and skill of Cash and Tracy. They rallied from a 3-5 deficit in the first set, saving a set point during their return at 4-5, and later overcame a break down in the second set. The duo sealed the victory after one hour and thirty-six minutes of play, marking their sole straight-sets win of the tournament.

Since debuting on the ATP Tour last year in Newport—where they reached the championship match—Cash and Tracy have accumulated an impressive record, winning seven ATP Challenger titles and advancing to the semifinals of tour-level events in Dallas and Delray Beach earlier this season. Their recent success has propelled them to the 19th position in the PIF ATP Live Doubles Rankings.

JJ Tracy expressed optimism for the future, stating, "One of our goals is that we want to win one of every single [category] tournament. This year we knocked off a 125, 175 and [now an ATP] 250. So, definitely for the rest of the year, gearing up for the US Open and keep progressing to get [an ATP] 500, [Masters] 1000 win next."

This victory not only highlights the potential of Cash and Tracy as rising stars in the doubles circuit but also reflects the growing competitiveness of American players in international tennis. Their journey serves as an inspiration to many aspiring athletes and signifies a promising future for American tennis in the doubles category, particularly as they prepare for upcoming hard court tournaments leading to the prestigious US Open.

As they continue to build on this momentum, the tennis community will be watching closely to see how Cash and Tracy navigate the challenges ahead and whether they can maintain their upward trajectory in the ATP rankings. Their victory in Los Cabos serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of sports and the potential for emerging talents to make their mark on the world stage.
