Syracuse University's Lachlan Doust to Compete at World Rowing Cup I
Syracuse University alum Lachlan Doust, a member of the class of 2025, is set to represent Australia at the upcoming World Rowing Cup I, taking place from June 13 to June 15, 2025, on Lake Varese, Italy. This prestigious event marks a significant milestone in Doust's athletic career, following his previous representation of Australia at the 2023 U23 World Rowing Championships where he finished fourth in the men’s eight category.
Doust, who will compete as the three-seat in the men’s eight, has a commendable record during his time at Syracuse, where he was integral to the Varsity 8 team. His achievements include helping the team secure four consecutive IRA Grand Finals and earning a bronze medal at the 2023 Eastern Sprints. Notably, he was also part of the Syracuse crew that triumphed at the 2022 Head of the Charles Regatta, one of the most prestigious rowing events in the world.
Prior to his senior campaign, Doust was recognized as one of the 35 rowers on the IRCA Athletes to Watch List, indicating his rising prominence in the sport. Serving as team captain for two seasons, Doust led the Orange to a program-best finish at the IRA Regatta, where all four boats reached the Grand Finals for the first time under the current IRA model.
The World Rowing Cup I will feature strong international competition, with Australia set to compete against teams from Italy, Great Britain, China, and Germany. Preliminary heats will commence at 10:04 a.m. local time on June 13.
