Toprak Razgatlioglu Clinches WorldSBK Victory at Donington Park

Toprak Razgatlioglu, riding for the ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team, dominated the seventh round of the 2025 FIM Superbike World Championship at Donington Park, securing victories in all three races and taking the lead in the riders’ standings. The event, held from July 13 to July 15, 2025, saw Razgatlioglu achieve a remarkable hat-trick, marking a significant milestone not only for himself but also for BMW Motorrad, which celebrated its 100th podium finish in the WorldSBK series.
In the initial race, held on Saturday, Razgatlioglu showcased his prowess by starting from pole position and maintaining his lead throughout the 23-lap contest. He finished with a significant gap of 6.535 seconds ahead of Nicolò Bulega from Aruba.it Racing - Ducati, who came in second. Razgatlioglu's performance continued with a win in the Superpole Race on Sunday morning, followed by another victory in the second main race, further extending his championship lead.
According to Sven Blusch, Head of BMW Motorrad Motorsport, "It was an incredible weekend for us, putting us back in the lead of the world championship – right where we belong. Toprak did an unbelievable job. He’s back in his flow, and you can feel his mental strength". Blusch expressed pride not only in Razgatlioglu’s performance but also in the collective effort of the team, emphasizing their resilience after a challenging start to the season.
The conditions at Donington Park were notably warm, with air temperatures reaching 27°C and track temperatures peaking at 41°C during the races. Christian Gonschor, Technical Director at BMW Motorrad Motorsport, noted the challenges posed by the weather but confirmed that the BMW M 1000 RR performed exceptionally well under these conditions. "We worked very intensively during the practice sessions to understand the bike under these conditions, and it worked out perfectly," he stated. Gonschor also acknowledged the difficulties faced by Razgatlioglu's teammate, Michael van der Mark, who struggled with technical issues and ultimately retired from both races on Sunday.
Razgatlioglu's historic performance at Donington Park saw him achieve a record of twelve wins at this particular circuit, an accomplishment that further solidifies his status as a leading competitor in the WorldSBK series. "I'm very happy because before I came here, my biggest target was the hat-trick. I love this track and I really like riding here," Razgatlioglu expressed following his victories. He maintained a focus on upcoming races, stating, "I hope we will win there, too," referring to the next event scheduled at the newly established Balaton Park Circuit in Hungary from July 25 to July 27, 2025.
Looking ahead, the championship standings show Razgatlioglu leading with 345 points, just four points ahead of Bulega, who has 341 points. This upcoming race will be critical for both riders as they vie for the top position in the championship after a thrilling round at Donington Park. The ongoing support from BMW Motorrad and the determination of the riders will play a pivotal role in their performance at Balaton Park, a circuit that presents new challenges for all competitors involved.
The implications of Razgatlioglu’s performance this weekend go beyond individual accolades; they reflect the strategic progress of BMW Motorrad in the competitive landscape of the Superbike Championship, showcasing the effectiveness of their engineering and the skill of their riders. The team’s commitment to excellence and innovation in motorcycle racing places them in a strong position as the season continues towards its climax.
