TNDV Enhances Exclamation Truck with 12G-SDI and 10GbE Networking

On June 24, 2025, TNDV, a leading mobile and REMI production company, announced a significant upgrade to its flagship Exclamation truck, which is now equipped with a comprehensive 12G-SDI video/audio ecosystem and enhanced 10GbE networking capabilities. This redesign comes precisely nine years after the launch of TNDV’s first 4K-capable truck, marking a pivotal moment in the company’s evolution in the broadcast industry.

The Exclamation truck, initially launched in June 2016 as a 1080p 3G truck, has undergone transformative upgrades to accommodate 4K productions and live switching. The truck, measuring 53 feet, was TNDV’s first to deliver native 1080p broadcast capabilities across its entire workflow. The 4K quad-link upgrade was completed in 2020, making it a primary resource for high-profile projects, including television specials and entertainment award shows.

TNDV implemented this redesign following a similar upgrade to its Aspiration truck, incorporating an Evertz Nexx router that increases video capacity by over five-fold while minimizing rack space requirements to a compact 5RU footprint. Rob Devlin, President of TNDV, highlighted the challenges posed by previous quad-link systems, stating, “Our previous systems served us well... though quad-link connectivity reduced video to 60 channels for 4K productions.” The new full 12G system allows for a 320x320 video capacity, significantly streamlining operations.

The integrated design brings together multiviewer processing, frame synchronization, format conversion (including HDR), and audio embedding within the Nexx platform, eliminating the complexities inherent in previous setups. Chris Payne, the Manager of Streaming, Remote Control Operations, and Special Projects at TNDV, affirmed, “We now have a 12G path from glass to glass with zero degradation and no conversion stages.” This enhancement facilitates the management of a large number of audio channels, reaching upwards of 1,000, seamlessly integrating with the Studer Vista X audio console.

In addition to the robust video and audio upgrades, the Exclamation truck features a complete overhaul of its IT infrastructure for live streaming and IP networking. New Ubiquiti Dream Machines with 10GbE Cloud Gateways and supporting 10GbE aggregate switches have been integrated, allowing for a fully-featured network environment. Payne noted, “We completely changed out the IP infrastructure on the truck and can now deploy a fully-featured network environment.”

The redesign also improves user experience for production personnel, with a revamped production monitor wall that retains high-quality Flanders Scientific monitors. This space is designed to accommodate various utility positions, effectively transforming the truck into a dual production unit for large-scale projects.

TNDV’s commitment to advancing its technology reflects broader trends in the broadcast industry, where the demand for higher quality and more complex productions is ever-increasing. The Exclamation truck’s upgrade positions TNDV at the forefront of mobile production, enabling it to meet the evolving needs of its clients in an increasingly competitive market.

As the industry moves towards greater integration of IP-based technologies and higher resolution formats, TNDV’s Exclamation truck exemplifies a forward-thinking approach that not only enhances production capabilities but also streamlines operational efficiencies. This upgrade is expected to significantly impact TNDV’s service offerings, strengthening its position as a leader in mobile and REMI production solutions for years to come.
