The Disney Dream's captain executed a swift maneuver to turn the ship around, deploying a tender to facilitate the rescue. Passengers onboard expressed relief and joy when the father and daughter were successfully brought back aboard the ship. James Tackett, another witness, recalled the moment, stating, "Everyone cheered. It was a good moment."

According to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, there are no indications of foul play in this incident, although investigations are ongoing. The authorities emphasized the family’s fortunate outcome in a statement, expressing gratitude for the crew's prompt actions, which they credited with preventing a potentially tragic scenario. The Cruise Vessel Security and Safety Act of 2010 mandates that cruise lines implement man-overboard detection technologies. According to the Cruise Lines International Association, there were 25 recorded overboard incidents in 2019, with only nine individuals rescued.
