Thailand and Cambodia Reach Immediate Ceasefire Amid Border Clashes

In a significant diplomatic resolution, Thailand and Cambodia have agreed to an immediate and unconditional ceasefire following several days of armed conflict along their eastern border. Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced this development during a press conference after mediation talks held in Kuala Lumpur on July 28, 2025. The Cambodian Prime Minister, Hun Manet, and Thailand's Acting Prime Minister, Phumtham Wechayachai, were present at the talks, expressing hope for a return to normalcy. They emphasized the importance of dialogue and cooperation to resolve the underlying issues fueling the conflict. A border summit is scheduled to take place in Cambodia on August 4, 2025, to further address the situation.
