In a significant diplomatic development, the United States has announced a negotiated ceasefire between Israel and Syria's government following a surge of violent clashes in the Druze heartland of southern Syria. The clashes primarily involve Bedouin tribes and armed Druze factions, particularly in the southern province of Suwayda. "We call upon Druze, Bedouins, and Sunnis to put down their weapons and together with other minorities build a new and united Syrian identity in peace and prosperity with its neighbours," Barrack stated on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

Dr. Omar Obeid, president of the Sweida branch of the Order of Physicians, reported that the local hospital has received over 400 bodies since the onset of the violence, with the morgue unable to accommodate the influx.

The United Nations has expressed grave concerns over the humanitarian crisis, with the International Organization for Migration reporting the displacement of over 79,000 individuals since the conflict reignited.
