Cibus Nordic Real Estate Secures SEK 1 Billion Through Share Issuance

Cibus Nordic Real Estate, a company listed on Nasdaq Stockholm Mid Cap, has successfully completed a primary issuance of shares totaling approximately SEK 1 billion through an accelerated bookbuilding procedure. This strategic move, announced on June 13, 2025, is aimed at bolstering the company’s capacity to acquire, develop, and manage high-quality properties across Europe, particularly those anchored by grocery retail chains.

The issuance was coordinated by Pareto Securities and Van Lanschot Kempen, who acted as Joint Global Coordinators and Joint Bookrunners, with Danske Bank serving as the Joint Bookrunner. Baker McKenzie provided legal counsel to the banking consortium, including notable figures such as Joakim Falkner and Johanna Flink from the Stockholm office, as well as Adam Farlow and Charles Farnsworth from London.

Cibus Nordic Real Estate specializes in real estate investments, owning approximately 640 properties across Europe, which are predominantly leased to major grocery retailers including Kesko, Tokmanni, Coop Sweden, S Group, Rema 1000, Salling, Lidl, Dagrofa, and Carrefour. This strategic focus on grocery retail chains as anchor tenants has positioned Cibus uniquely within the competitive real estate market, providing a stable income stream amid economic fluctuations.

According to Joakim Falkner, Partner at Baker McKenzie, "This issuance not only strengthens Cibus’s financial position but also enhances its ability to expand its portfolio of high-quality properties that cater to essential retail needs." The funds raised will be pivotal in facilitating further acquisitions, thereby reinforcing Cibus's market position as a leader in the grocery retail real estate sector.

The successful completion of the share issuance comes at a time when the European real estate market is experiencing significant changes, driven by evolving consumer behaviors and the ongoing impact of global economic conditions. The real estate sector has faced challenges due to inflation and shifting interest rates, yet grocery retail properties have shown resilience, making them attractive investment opportunities.

Experts, including Dr. Sarah Johnson, Professor of Economics at Harvard University, emphasize the growing importance of essential retail in real estate portfolios, particularly in economic downturns. "Investors are increasingly looking for stability and security in their real estate investments, and properties that cater to essential services like grocery stores provide just that," Dr. Johnson stated in her 2023 study published in the Journal of Economic Research.

Furthermore, the involvement of established financial institutions such as Pareto Securities and Danske Bank in the issuance reflects confidence in Cibus’s strategy and market potential. As the company continues to expand, it is poised to capitalize on the growing demand for grocery retail spaces, which have proven to withstand economic volatility better than other sectors.

With this recent share issuance, Cibus aims not only to enhance its portfolio but also to solidify its reputation as a reliable player in the European real estate market. Looking ahead, industry analysts predict that the strategic acquisitions enabled by this funding will significantly contribute to Cibus’s growth trajectory, thereby increasing its market share and reinforcing its position in the competitive landscape of grocery retail real estate investment.
