Deloitte Launches Summer Vacation Scheme for 460 UK University Students

Deloitte, one of the leading professional services firms globally, commenced its immersive Summer Vacation Scheme on June 30, 2025, welcoming 460 university students from across the United Kingdom. The initiative, which spans 15 Deloitte offices nationwide, is designed for penultimate-year university students and provides them with invaluable work experience in the realms of audit, assurance, tax, legal services, and consulting.
This year's program aims to equip students with practical skills and insights into professional services, allowing them to engage directly with clients and participate in team projects. The scheme is structured to last between four to six weeks depending on the specific business area, culminating in potential offers for placements in Deloitte’s prestigious graduate program.
According to Richard Harries, a newly promoted partner in Deloitte’s tax division, the Summer Vacation Scheme significantly influenced his career trajectory. Harries, who participated in the program in 2009 while studying Financial Economics at the University of Liverpool, stated, "It’s more than just an internship; it provides a lasting impression of our firm’s culture and the people who make it thrive. The connections and bonds you make have been instrumental to my success at Deloitte."
Jackie Henry, Managing Partner for People and Purpose at Deloitte, expressed her enthusiasm for the new cohort of students: "Each year, we see hundreds of bright, talented and motivated young people join our Summer Vacation Scheme. It is inspiring to witness their development of valuable career skills and their growing confidence throughout the program."
The Summer Vacation Scheme will take place in various Deloitte offices including locations in Aberdeen, Belfast, Birmingham, and London, among others. Applications for next year's cohort are set to open on September 22, 2025.
Beyond the Summer Vacation Scheme, Deloitte offers other programs aimed at undergraduates, including the 'Spring into Deloitte' internship program for first and second-year students and a 12-month Industrial Placement program for those required to complete a work experience placement as part of their degree. These initiatives are designed to provide students with insights and hands-on experience in the professional services sector, fostering skills that are critical for future employment.
As part of its commitment to fostering young talent, Deloitte also runs the Career Shapers program, which invites school and college students to explore various business areas. Participants engage in case studies and employability sessions aimed at enhancing their future career prospects.
Deloitte continues to solidify its position as a leader in the professional services landscape, not just through its client services but also by investing in the next generation of professionals. The firm remains dedicated to creating opportunities that help young individuals build their careers in an increasingly competitive job market.
