DBS PayLah Cashback Returns: Boosting Local Businesses in Singapore

SINGAPORE — DBS/POSB has announced the return of its popular weekly cashback initiative, DBS PayLah, aimed at supporting local businesses and enhancing consumer savings. Effective from July 12 until September 27, 2025, the program will reward the first 160,000 users who make purchases at designated heartland shops and hawker centers. Users can earn up to $3 cashback by utilizing the DBS PayLah app when they scan and pay at over 22,000 participating locations across Singapore. This initiative coincides with the nation’s 60th birthday celebrations, further emphasizing DBS's commitment to fostering community engagement and economic growth.
According to Mr. Lim Him Chuan, Singapore Country Head at DBS, the cashback program is designed not only to reward consumers but also to bolster the local economy. In a statement released on June 29, 2025, Mr. Lim remarked, "The positive reception to our PayLah weekly cashback initiative has been encouraging. We are grateful for our customers’ steadfast support over the years and believe that bringing back this initiative for SG60 further reaffirms our commitment to standing by them and driving inclusive growth of our heartlands."
This year’s cashback initiative aligns with various other promotions, including 60-cent meal deals available through POSB debit and credit cards at selected food and beverage outlets from July 1 through September 30. Notable partnerships include KFC, which will offer $6 set meals as part of this campaign.
The cashback program is part of a broader effort by DBS/POSB to enhance customer experience and patronage at local businesses. The move comes at a time when many local merchants continue to face challenges in the post-pandemic economy. Recent reports from the Ministry of Trade and Industry indicate that consumer spending is recovering, but local businesses still need support to fully bounce back from the economic downturn caused by COVID-19.
In addition to the cashback program, the local community is buzzing about another major event: the Star Awards 2025. Hong Kong actor Chow Yun Fat will be making a special appearance as a guest presenter at the awards ceremony on July 6, marking his return after 30 years. Chow first graced the inaugural Star Awards in 1994, and his participation this year is anticipated to draw significant fanfare.
Chow Yun Fat, who has starred in numerous iconic films, including "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" and "A Better Tomorrow," expressed excitement about returning to this celebrated platform. His involvement adds a layer of cultural significance to the awards show, which has become a staple in Singapore’s entertainment landscape.
With both the cashback initiative and the Star Awards, Singapore showcases its vibrant local culture while promoting economic resilience. As consumers prepare to engage with local businesses through cashback rewards, they also anticipate the celebration of artistic talent at the Star Awards, highlighting Singapore’s rich cultural tapestry.
