LIVERight Heroes Host Community Wellness Event for Liver Health

VANCOUVER, BC – On June 14, 2025, the LIVERight Heroes will host the 'Move for Liver' event at the Chinese Cultural Centre from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, promoting liver health awareness and raising funds for Liver Canada. This community-driven wellness initiative, now in its tenth year, aims to engage participants in various physical activities while educating them about liver diseases and the importance of liver health research.
The LIVERight Heroes, a youth volunteer team established in Vancouver and developed in partnership with Liver Canada, has grown to over 100 active members. Their initiatives include advocacy, public engagement, and health promotion across the Lower Mainland. Julian, the team's founder, received the King Charles Award in 2024 at the age of just 13, making him one of the youngest recipients in Canada. This accolade underscores the team's decade-long commitment to community service and its impact on raising awareness about liver health.
The 'Move for Liver' event will feature a variety of activities designed to promote fitness and health education. Participants can engage in Tai Chi, yoga, high-intensity interval training (HIIT), boxing, basketball, and soccer stations. Additionally, free health screenings for Hepatitis C and diabetes will be available, provided by London Drugs. Educational booths hosted by Dr. Rosetti Lin and Dr. Jackson Wong will present a 'Myth vs Fact' session to dispel common misconceptions about liver health.
The event will culminate in a community walk through the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Garden, emphasizing the importance of physical activity in maintaining overall well-being. Families and friends are encouraged to form teams, register for the event, and make donations to support Liver Canada's mission in research and education.
According to Dr. Rosetti Lin, a hepatologist at the University of British Columbia, 'Public awareness events like these are crucial. They not only provide essential information about liver health but also foster community engagement, which is vital for promoting healthier lifestyles.'
The 'Move for Liver' event is expected to attract a diverse crowd, reflecting Vancouver's multicultural community. The initiative aligns with broader efforts to address liver disease, which affects millions of Canadians, emphasizing early detection and prevention strategies.
As the event draws closer, organizers are optimistic about the community's support and participation. 'We believe that through education and engagement, we can make a significant impact on liver health in our community,' stated Julian, the founder of LIVERight Heroes.
