Alessandro Ghiretti Dominates Race 6 of Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup in Zandvoort

In a spectacular display of skill and strategy, Porsche Junior Alessandro Ghiretti clinched a decisive victory in the sixth round of the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland at the Zandvoort circuit in the Netherlands on June 8, 2025. This triumph not only marked Ghiretti's second win of the season but also propelled him to the top of the championship standings with a total of 105 points, just four points ahead of second-place Robert de Haan.

The race unfolded under challenging weather conditions, with persistent rain over the Dutch North Sea coast necessitating the use of treaded rain tires for the first time this season. This setup required teams to adapt quickly to the evolving conditions, leading to an intense competition characterized by thrilling overtaking maneuvers and fierce wheel-to-wheel action.

Ghiretti, driving for Schumacher CLRT, faced a rocky start after qualifying on pole position. He dropped back at the outset but swiftly regained momentum. By lap eight, he had advanced from fourth to second place, ultimately reclaiming the front position by lap eleven. His commanding lead stretched to over six seconds by the race's conclusion, showcasing the superior setup of his Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. "The setup of my 911 GT3 Cup was perfect for these mixed conditions," Ghiretti remarked. "Credit to my engineer and mechanic for their hard work," he added.

Fellow competitor Marvin Klein, representing Proton Huber Competition, delivered an impressive performance, finishing second after starting from eighth on the grid. Klein expertly navigated through the field, executing clean overtakes to secure his best result of the season. "A comeback like that only works when the conditions are challenging, and my car was fantastic. I could push whenever I needed to," Klein stated, reflecting on his race strategy.

Janne Stiak, who had won Saturday's race, managed to salvage a podium finish by coming in third despite facing a rollercoaster of challenges throughout the race. Stiak commented on his fluctuating performance, saying, "My start was perfect, and at one point I was even leading briefly. But I braked too hard, ploughed through the gravel, and had to fight back."

The race not only highlighted the skills of established drivers but also showcased the emerging talent within the series. In the Rookie classification, Joseph Warhurst achieved his first class victory, while Emely de Heus made history as the first woman to reach the Rookie podium this season, finishing third in her category. Warhurst expressed satisfaction with his performance, stating, "These were classic British conditions, absolutely perfect for me."

In the ProAm category, Michael Schrey claimed victory with a strategic race plan that involved conserving his tires early on. "I conserved my tyres early on – absolutely the right call. As the track dried, I managed to pick off one rival after the other," Schrey noted after his race.

Thorsten Rückert, Project Manager of the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland, praised the event, stating, "Spectators were again treated to motorsport at its best in Zandvoort. Both races were packed with action over the entire field – that’s exactly what a one-make cup should be. Congratulations to Janne Stiak and Alessandro Ghiretti. The battle for the crown is closer than ever."

The Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland now heads to the historic Norisring in Nuremberg for round four scheduled for July 4-6, 2025. This will be the first time since 2019 that the championship returns to this iconic street circuit, promising another thrilling chapter in the ongoing season.

As the season progresses, the competition remains fierce, with Ghiretti, Klein, and Stiak all poised to contend for the championship title as they head into the next round. With only six races completed out of a total of sixteen, the excitement and unpredictability of the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland continue to captivate motorsport fans worldwide.
