Indian squash player Anahat Singh has made headlines by securing two prestigious accolades at the Professional Squash Association (PSA) Awards for the 2024-25 season. Recognized for her outstanding performance, Singh was awarded the Women’s Challenger Player of the Season and shared the title of Women’s Young Player of the Season with Egypt’s Amina Orfi.

Singh, only 17 years old, has established herself as a formidable force in the squash world, particularly through her achievements on the Challenger circuit. Beginning her season in August 2024, she successfully defended her national title and clinched the PSA Challenger Player of the Month award following her victory at the HCL Squash Tour in Kolkata. Over the course of the season, Singh collected an impressive nine titles out of eleven tournaments, including eight Challenger-level wins across various events varying in prize money from $3,000 to $15,000. Notably, she maintained an extraordinary 29-match unbeaten streak.

In March 2025, at the Indian Open—a $15,000 event held in Mumbai—Singh displayed her skill by defeating veteran player Joshna Chinappa en route to winning the title. Her performance at the junior level was equally commendable; she secured the Under-17 title at the British Junior Open in January 2025 and contributed to India’s bronze medal achievement at the Asian Junior Team Championships held in Hong Kong, China.

These remarkable accomplishments propelled Anahat Singh into the top 70 of the PSA world rankings, making her India’s No. 1 ranked women’s squash player, with a current ranking of world No. 56. Furthermore, she qualified for the World Squash Championships in Chicago by winning the Asian qualifiers in Malaysia in April 2025. During her debut at the World Championships in May, Singh made headlines by upsetting world No. 29 Marina Stefanoni from the USA before being eliminated in the second round by Egypt’s world No. 14 Fayrouz Aboelkheir.

The PSA Women’s Young Player of the Season award was shared with Amina Orfi, who also had a standout season, winning her first PSA Gold-level title at the Singapore Open and breaking into the world's top five in the senior rankings.

Singh's achievements are not only a testament to her talent and hard work but also signal a bright future for Indian squash on the international stage. As she continues to develop her skills and compete at higher levels, the squash community eagerly anticipates her future contributions to the sport.
