Bruno Michel Discusses Mid-Season Highlights and Future Prospects for F3

In a recent debrief, Bruno Michel, the CEO of Formula 3 (F3), provided insights into the ongoing 2025 racing season as it reaches its halfway mark. The season, characterized by intense competition and strategic developments, has seen Rafael Câmara maintain his lead in the Drivers' Championship, showcasing remarkable consistency throughout the triple-header events held in Barcelona, Imola, and Spielberg.
As of June 2025, Câmara's performance has been commendable, securing victories and pole positions that underline his potential as a top contender. "Rafael Câmara started the triple header leading in the Drivers’ Standings. He remained top throughout three weeks of intense racing and left Barcelona with another victory in a Feature Race, his third so far," stated Michel. Such achievements have allowed Câmara to establish a comfortable lead; however, the competitive nature of the series means that the title race remains wide open.
The triple-header format, which involved three consecutive race weekends, proved to be a rigorous test for teams and drivers alike. "The past three rounds were very intense, and there’s been very little rest to be had during the triple header. It’s not easy and it’s very hard on the teams and the drivers," Michel emphasized, reflecting on the demands of the schedule.
In addition to Câmara's dominance, other drivers, such as Nikola Tsolov, have emerged as formidable challengers. Tsolov, who recently achieved a pole position in Monaco, remains within striking distance of the championship leader, further intensifying the competition. Michel noted, "There are drivers behind him who are also pushing. Nikola Tsolov is one of them, as he has steadily scored points since the start of the season."
The performance of rookie drivers has also been a highlight of the season. In Barcelona, three rookies stood on the podium during the Feature Race, indicating a promising future for the championship. Michel remarked, "To see three rookies on the podium in the Barcelona Feature Race is a good sign and a good thing for the future of the F3 Championship, and the future of F2 as well."
Looking forward, Michel expressed optimism about the remainder of the season, particularly with the upcoming races in Austria. The break before the next event is expected to provide teams with necessary downtime to recharge and prepare strategically. "I think the fact that F3 and F2 are not going to Canada and that our next race is in Austria at the end of June is really something that’s positive because everybody will have time to recharge the batteries and get ready to go for the next events," he said.
As the championship progresses, the performance of teams such as Van Amersfoort Racing, which has shown remarkable improvement with victories in the triple-header, is noteworthy. "It’s really good to see teams who were having challenging times previously, finally reaping the rewards of their hard work," Michel stated. The competitive landscape of the Teams' Championship is also heating up, with TRIDENT currently holding the lead and Campos Racing close behind.
In conclusion, as the 2025 F3 season continues, the combination of emerging talent, seasoned competitors, and strategic team efforts promises to deliver an exciting second half. The innovations introduced with the new F3 car have proven effective in enhancing the racing experience, as Michel noted. "I would say let’s continue like this. It’s been a good season. The new car has been delivering exactly what we wanted."
As the series heads towards its culmination at Monza, anticipation builds for the races ahead, providing drivers with opportunities to showcase their skills and potentially secure advancement to higher tiers of motorsport.
