Emma Felbermayr Achieves First Victory in F1 Academy Montreal Race 2

In an exhilarating display of skill and strategy, Emma Felbermayr, a driver for Kick Sauber, clinched her inaugural victory in the F1 Academy during Race 2 in Montreal on Sunday. This victory marks a pivotal moment in Felbermayr's career, showcasing her resilience after facing disqualification in the previous race due to technical infractions.

Felbermayr's triumph came as she executed a daring last-lap maneuver to overtake long-time leader Nina Gademan, capitalizing on the deployment of a Safety Car with just three laps remaining. Gademan had taken the lead early in the race, seizing the opportunity from Chloe Chong on the opening lap. However, Felbermayr's strategic approach allowed her to navigate the field and secure her first win, finishing the race ahead of Gademan and teammate Ella Lloyd, who completed a 1-2 finish for Rodin Motorsport.

The race was not without its challenges. The Safety Car was necessitated by a collision between Hitech TGR teammates Nicole Havrda and Aiva Anagnostiadis, which reshuffled the standings and created opportunities for other competitors. Felbermayr's performance was characterized by consistent lap times and effective use of the Safety Car period to position herself for the final push.

Prior to her victory, Felbermayr had earned a podium finish in Race 1, but her disqualification due to her car being found underweight marred her initial success. "I'm incredibly grateful for this win, especially after the disappointment of Race 1. It’s a testament to the hard work of my team and my determination to succeed," Felbermayr stated after the race.

Nina Gademan, while disappointed with her second-place finish, acknowledged the competitive nature of the event. "Leading the race was thrilling, but Emma made a great move at the end. I’ll take this experience forward and aim for better results in the future," she commented.

The race also featured impressive performances from other drivers. Doriane Pin, who finished fourth, had previously been in contention for the lead but ultimately could not match the pace needed to secure a podium finish. Alba Larsen, racing for Tommy Hilfiger, displayed remarkable skill as she surged from 11th on the grid to finish fifth, demonstrating the unpredictable nature of racing in the F1 Academy.

Chloe Chambers will start from pole position in Race 3, which is set to take place on Sunday at 10:55 AM local time. As the season progresses, the F1 Academy continues to provide a platform for emerging talent in the motorsport world, fostering competitive spirit and showcasing the potential of its young drivers. Felbermayr’s victory not only enhances her standing in the championship but also serves as an inspiration for aspiring racers looking to make their mark in the sport.
