Kush Maini to Drive for Mahindra Racing in Berlin Formula E Test

Mahindra Racing has officially announced that Kush Maini will represent the team in the upcoming ABB FIA Formula E World Championship Rookie Test scheduled for Monday, July 14, in Berlin, Germany. This event is significant as it showcases the ongoing development of Maini, India’s emerging talent in single-seater racing, within the context of Formula E, the world’s premier all-electric racing series.
The announcement follows a successful stint for Maini earlier this season, where he set a remarkable benchmark during the Rookie Free Practice session in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, driving the Mahindra M11Electro, which is part of the new GEN3 Evo series. His previous experience includes serving as the official Reserve Driver for Mahindra Racing during Season 10 and participating in last year’s Rookie Test at the Tempelhof Airport Street Circuit.
Maini's performance in the FIA Formula 2 series has also been noteworthy, as he recently secured victory in Monaco, marking his second win and bringing his total podium finishes to seven. This trajectory of success highlights Maini's growing prominence in motorsport.
“I was really impressed with the Mahindra M11Electro in Jeddah; it’s a great car to drive and I can’t wait to experience it again in Berlin,” Maini expressed in a statement. He emphasized his close relationship with Mahindra Racing over the past 18 months, noting the hard work that has gone into improving the team's performance.
Frederic Bertrand, CEO and Team Principal of Mahindra Racing, commented on Maini’s potential, stating, “The whole point of the Berlin Rookie Test is to encourage and nurture the next generation of potential Formula E stars, and Kush is definitely a talent to watch in that regard.” Bertrand praised Maini's consistent performance and attitude, indicating the team's excitement to work with him again.
The Rookie Test in Berlin is not only a platform for aspiring drivers to showcase their abilities but also an essential component of the FIA's mission to foster talent in electric motorsport. Mahindra Racing, as the only Indian team competing at the World Championship level, plays a crucial role in this initiative.
This development comes at a time when Formula E is expanding its global footprint, with increasing viewership and participation among drivers worldwide. The series aims to promote sustainable racing practices while demonstrating the capabilities of electric vehicles.
As the test approaches, all eyes will be on Kush Maini, who is set to continue his journey in the fast-evolving world of electric motorsport, with hopes of carving a noteworthy career path in Formula E and beyond.
