Mahindra Racing Announces Dino Beganovic for Berlin Rookie Test

Mahindra Racing has officially confirmed that Dino Beganovic will represent the team in the upcoming Formula E Rookie Test, scheduled for July 14, 2025, at the Tempelhof Street Circuit in Berlin, Germany. The announcement was made public on July 2, 2025, and marks a significant opportunity for the 21-year-old Swedish driver, who has garnered attention as a prominent talent within the FIA’s single-seater pathway. Beganovic has demonstrated his racing prowess in various categories, including Formula 4, Formula Regional, and most recently, FIA Formula 2, where he has achieved podium finishes in Bahrain and Imola during his inaugural full-season campaign.
The Rookie Test serves as a platform for emerging talents, allowing them to gain valuable experience and showcase their skills in current-generation Formula E machinery. During the event, Beganovic will participate in a full day of testing alongside fellow Formula 2 competitor Kush Maini, piloting the Mahindra M11Electro.
In his statement, Beganovic expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity, stating, "I’m looking forward to the opportunity to drive for Mahindra Racing at the Berlin Rookie Test, and to try a Formula E car for the first time. It's a great opportunity to get experience and also contribute to the team’s development. I’ve been impressed with everything I’ve seen so far; it’s obvious why this is one of the front-running teams in the championship."
Frederic Bertrand, CEO and Team Principal of Mahindra Racing, highlighted the significance of Beganovic’s selection for this test. He noted, "When analyzing our options for the Rookie Test in Berlin, Dino quickly emerged as a front-runner for one of the seats. It’s a great opportunity for him to sample what Formula E is all about, and we’re all very excited to work together with him to make the most of it."
The Rookie Test has been established as an annual event, designed to facilitate the development of future motorsport stars by providing them with an opportunity to drive in a competitive environment. This initiative aligns with the broader goals of Formula E to foster talent and innovation in electric racing, as the championship continues to grow both in popularity and significance in the realm of motorsport.
As the 2024/2025 Formula E season progresses, the involvement of promising young drivers like Beganovic underscores the series' commitment to nurturing the next generation of racing talent. The outcomes of this test could lead to future opportunities for Beganovic and others within the rapidly evolving landscape of electric motorsport. The implications for Mahindra Racing are equally significant, as integrating fresh talent could enhance the team’s competitive edge in upcoming races.
