Miguel Angel Jimenez Claims Fourth PGA Tour Champions Title at Kaulig

Miguel Angel Jimenez secured victory at the Kaulig Companies Championship on June 22, 2025, marking his fourth win of the PGA Tour Champions season. The tournament concluded with an intense playoff where Jimenez triumphed over Steven Alker with a decisive 20-foot birdie putt on the second extra hole, demonstrating his remarkable skill and resilience on the course.

Entering the final round at Firestone South in Akron, Ohio, Jimenez and Alker were tied at the top, each having completed the previous rounds with consistent play. Both players finished the tournament at 10-under 270, shooting 2-under 68 in the final round. As the round progressed, Jimenez found himself two strokes behind after Alker birdied the par-5 16th hole. However, the 61-year-old Spanish golfer rallied by sinking a 10-foot birdie putt on the par-4 17th and then an impressive 18-footer on the par-4 18th to draw level with Alker.

The playoff commenced with both players parring the 18th hole on the first extra hole. Jimenez narrowly missed an 18-foot birdie attempt, while Alker converted a shorter putt to extend the competition. On the second playoff hole, Jimenez capitalized on an opportunity when Alker missed a critical 20-foot birdie putt, sealing Jimenez's victory with his own successful attempt.

This win adds to Jimenez's illustrious career, now boasting three major titles, including the Regions Tradition and the Senior British Open—both of which he won in 2018. His consistent performance this season has earned him a place in the upcoming Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass.

Jimenez's four wins this season exemplify his enduring prowess in the sport, as he continues to compete against younger players on the PGA Tour Champions. His previous victories this year include wins at the Hoag Classic in Newport Beach, California, and the Principal Charity Classic in Des Moines, Iowa, where he also claimed triumphs in playoff scenarios.

Stewart Cink finished in third place at the Kaulig Companies Championship, concluding the tournament at 8-under after a solid 66, while Steve Flesch followed closely behind at 7-under following a round of 65.

As the tour progresses, the U.S. Senior Open scheduled to begin Thursday at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colorado, will present another opportunity for players to showcase their talents and compete for prestigious titles. The ongoing season highlights the evolving dynamics of senior professional golf, where seasoned athletes like Jimenez continue to leave a profound mark on the sport, inspiring both fans and up-and-coming golfers alike.
