This announcement, made on June 18, 2025, marks a pivotal step in Bedrin's career as he transitions from karting to the highly competitive arena of Formula E.
Bedrin, a notable figure in international karting, captured attention by dominating the 2020 WSK Super Master Series (OK), where he excelled in heats, qualifying sessions, prefinals, and finals. In 2024, he continued his ascent by securing his first FIA Formula 3 Sprint Race victory, reinforcing his potential in junior single-seater racing classes.
"I’m incredibly excited to join DS PENSKE for the Berlin Rookie Test. It’s a great opportunity to experience Formula E up close and work with such a forward-thinking and competitive team. I’m grateful to be part of the Penske Driver Development Program; it is a huge milestone in my career. I am thankful for the trust the team has placed in me and I can’t wait to get started," Bedrin expressed in a statement following the announcement.
As part of the Penske Driver Development Program, Bedrin will closely collaborate with the DS PENSKE engineering team, focusing on simulator development and gaining critical insights into the technical and strategic demands of all-electric racing. Phil Charles, the Deputy Team Principal of DS PENSKE, shared his enthusiasm about Bedrin's addition to the team, stating, "We’re thrilled to welcome Nikita into our development structure. His talent is undeniable, and we believe he has the mindset and dedication to thrive within the DS PENSKE environment."
Bedrin's involvement with the team will officially commence during the Formula E Rookie Test scheduled for July 14, 2025, at the Berlin Tempelhof circuit. The announcement comes at a time when Formula E continues to grow in popularity and competitiveness, with teams and drivers pushing the boundaries of technology and sustainability in motorsport. As the series prepares for its next race, the Sarinah Jakarta E-Prix on June 21, 2025, the addition of emerging talents like Bedrin is crucial for the future of electric racing.
