O2 Partners with World Rugby for Women's Rugby World Cup 2025

World Rugby has officially announced its partnership with O2 as the Official Partner for the upcoming Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025, which will take place in England. This collaboration includes O2 serving as the presenting partner for the tournament's opening show, set to occur at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland on August 22, 2025.
The partnership marks a significant step for O2 in promoting women's rugby, expanding its commitment to gender equality in sports. Notably, O2 was the first brand to pledge equal investment in both men's and women's rugby back in 2021. As part of this new collaboration, O2 customers will gain exclusive access to tickets for all 32 matches in the tournament through the company’s Priority program, which offers unique rewards and experiences to its members.
Gareth Griffiths, Director of Partnerships and Sponsorship at Virgin Media O2, emphasized the longstanding relationship between O2 and England Rugby, stating, "O2 has been side by side with England Rugby since 1995, and we could not be prouder of everything we have achieved together over the past 30 years. Our Wear the Rose campaign continues to rally the nation in support of the sport and has enabled us to bring the game into the lives of millions more people via Priority from O2."
The Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 is expected to be a record-breaking event, with over 300,000 tickets already sold, which is more than double the total attendance recorded during the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2021 in New Zealand. Sarah Massey, Managing Director of the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025, remarked on the importance of the partnership, saying, "O2’s long-standing commitment to English rugby is undeniable, and we’re delighted to have them on board for what will be a record-breaking tournament here in England. With powerful personalities on the pitch and unmissable action in every match, Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 will be more than a tournament - it will be a nationwide celebration of the sport."
The tournament, which is a joint venture between World Rugby and the Rugby Football Union (RFU), with funding support from the UK Government, aims not only to deliver a world-class sporting event but also to create a positive and lasting impact for women and girls in sports. This initiative aligns with O2 and the RFU's ongoing partnership with the Women’s Sport Trust, focusing on increasing visibility for women's rugby and growing its fanbase.
As the tournament approaches, anticipation continues to build, with O2 planning to enhance fans' matchday experiences through various digital platforms. The event is on track to be the largest and most memorable edition of the Women’s Rugby World Cup to date, with an unprecedented number of teams competing.
