POC Unveils Ultra-Lightweight Cytal Lite Helmet at 2025 Tour de France

The Cytal Lite draws inspiration from previous POC models, namely the Cytal and Cytal Carbon, which have set benchmarks in both aerodynamics and safety, as reflected in Virginia Tech's safety rating system. According to Magnus Gustafsson, POC’s Director of Hard Goods, the helmet has been engineered with a refined structure that not only reduces weight but also significantly enhances airflow. 'The Cytal Lite is for when every gram counts and heat management is critical,' Gustafsson stated. 'It perfectly meets the demands of climbers, “col hunters,” and anyone riding in hot climates who needs maximum cooling and ventilation.'

The helmet’s design is optimized for speeds typically encountered during mountain ascents, particularly between 20–30 km/h, a common speed range during climbs. However, the innovative airflow system ensures effective cooling across various speeds, showcasing POC's commitment to both performance and safety.

Peter Schep, Head of Performance at EF Pro Cycling, confirmed the collaborative development process between the team and POC engineers. 'We know the importance of ventilation and cooling and the difference it makes in human performance,' Schep said. 'Having a helmet that excels in weight savings and cooling is an obvious advantage.'
