Porsche 911 GT3 R Teams Gear Up for Nürburgring 24-Hour Challenge

In a thrilling display of endurance racing, seven Porsche 911 GT3 R vehicles are prepared to compete for overall victory in the prestigious 24-hour Nürburgring race, scheduled for June 21-22, 2025. The event, regarded as a pinnacle in motorsports, will take place on the iconic Nordschleife circuit, known for its challenging terrain and demanding layout.

The Nürburgring 24 Hours, a key fixture in the Intercontinental GT Challenge series, marks its 53rd edition this year, having first been held in 1970. Over the years, the race has become synonymous with high-stakes competition, attracting the world's top teams and drivers. This year, 54 of the 141 entrants will sport the Porsche emblem, making the company the most represented manufacturer on the grid. According to Michael Dreiser, Director of Sales for Porsche Motorsport, "Once again, Porsche is the most strongly represented brand at the Nürburgring 24 Hours. This reflects the great trust we enjoy among our partners and customers, and underscores how well our products are established in the market."

The seven teams competing in the SP9 class, which is the top tier of the race, include Scherer Sport PHX, Falken Motorsports, Black Falcon, Dinamic GT, and Manthey EMA. Each team has prepared meticulously for the race, with the Scherer Sport PHX Porsche 911 GT3 R already demonstrating formidable performance during the qualification rounds held in May. Sebastian Golz, Project Manager for the Porsche 911 GT3 R, expressed optimism about their chances, stating, "The VLN races and the two ‘Qualifiers’ events this year have shown that we are well-positioned together with our professional customer teams; however, the true level of competition will only be revealed during the main race."

The technical specifications of the Nürburgring circuit significantly contribute to the race's challenges. The 25.378-kilometer layout includes 170 corners and gradients that reach up to 18 percent. Vehicles often attain speeds exceeding 280 km/h, particularly on the Döttinger Höhe straight. The demanding nature of the course has earned it the nickname ‘Green Hell’ and poses a formidable test for both drivers and machines alike.

In the lead-up to the race, drivers have shared their anticipation and readiness. Laurens Vanthoor, piloting the Scherer Sport PHX #16, remarked, "The Nürburgring 24 Hours is my favorite race. It’s exhausting, but always exciting and enjoyable. I’m really looking forward to it." Julien Andlauer from Falken Motorsports #33 echoed similar sentiments, noting the thrill of racing on such a legendary track, while Kévin Estre from Manthey EMA highlighted the importance of their preparations in varying weather conditions.

The broadcast of the race will be available on the German free-to-air channel Nitro and via a free live stream on the official race website, enhancing accessibility for fans worldwide. This year's event promises not only high-speed action but also a showcase of automotive engineering and teamwork at its finest, as Porsche aims for its 14th overall victory in this grueling endurance challenge. The multi-faceted competition will also feature additional Porsche entries across various classes, reaffirming the brand's dominance in the endurance racing scene.

As the date approaches, the excitement surrounding the event continues to build, with fans and participants alike eager to witness the fierce competition that the Nürburgring 24 Hours is renowned for. With a blend of seasoned professionals and ambitious newcomers, the race is set to deliver unforgettable moments on one of motorsport's most revered stages.
