XPO Logistics Extends Partnership with Tour de France Until 2030

XPO Logistics, a leading provider of sustainable logistics solutions, has renewed its partnership with the Tour de France and Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift, extending their collaboration through 2030. This partnership, which has lasted nearly five decades, is grounded in a mutual commitment to innovation and sustainability in the logistics sector. The renewal comes ahead of the 2025 editions of both cycling events, which are set to showcase XPO's advanced logistical capabilities and its commitment to reducing carbon emissions.
The partnership has evolved alongside the Tour de France, where XPO Logistics has been instrumental in ensuring the smooth operation of the event. According to Luis Gómez, President of XPO Logistics Europe, “We’re honoured to extend our role as Official Transport Partner through 2030. This long-standing partnership reflects our shared commitment to operational excellence, innovation, and sustainability.” The logistical expertise of XPO is demonstrated in their efficiency; the setup and takedown of race day infrastructure can occur within hours, even in challenging terrains.
XPO Logistics will implement its LESS® HVO solution during the 2025 events, utilizing HVO biofuel to significantly reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 90%. As highlighted in their 2023 sustainability report, this initiative prevented over 223,000 kg of CO₂ emissions in the previous year alone. Thomas Cariou, CSR Director at Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO), emphasized the importance of XPO’s expertise in tackling the logistical challenges posed by the Tour: “Together, we continue to innovate and raise the bar year after year.”
The collaboration also extends beyond the Tour de France, as XPO is the Official Transport Partner for twelve other major cycling events organized by ASO, including Paris-Nice and Liège-Bastogne-Liège. With the introduction of their biofuel initiative, XPO Logistics is setting a precedent for sustainability in major sporting events, aligning with global movements towards greener practices in transportation.
In conclusion, this partnership not only signifies a commitment to sports but also underscores the importance of sustainability in logistics. As the Tour de France and Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift move forward, XPO Logistics aims to lead in both operational efficiency and environmental responsibility, setting a benchmark for future collaborations in the realm of sports logistics.
