Kunsthall Trondheim Unveils Fall-Winter 2025 Exhibition Program

Kunsthall Trondheim, located in Norway, has announced its upcoming Fall-Winter 2025 exhibition program, which is set to run from September 25, 2025, to January 25, 2026. This seasonal suite of solo exhibitions aims to explore contemporary societal themes through the lens of art, engaging with topics such as science fiction, body horror, and the intricate dynamics of material and emotional supply chains. The exhibitions will offer unique storytelling perspectives that connect historical narratives with contemporary issues.

The first exhibition features American Artist's work titled 'The Monophobic Response,' which will be on display from September 25 to October 12, 2025. This two-channel film installation reinterprets a significant rocket engine test from 1936, pivotal in launching the U.S. space program. Instead of a traditional reenactment, the work investigates the spiritual and political motivations driving contemporary desires to escape Earth. Drawing inspiration from Octavia E. Butler's 1993 novel 'Parable of the Sower,' the installation raises critical questions about whether humanity's cosmic ambitions can transcend the colonial logics of exploitation and destruction.

Following this, from October 30, 2025, to January 25, 2026, Madeleine Andersson will present '10K VIRGIN BRAINS,' an installation that confronts the complexities of artificial intelligence and human consciousness. The exhibition features thousands of white plastic containers, reminiscent of the Brain Collection at the University of Southern Denmark, which includes over 9,479 brains extracted from patients diagnosed with mental illnesses. The installation is designed as a labyrinth where animated lab gloves interact with the space, accompanied by a video essay that critiques the objectivity of scientific inquiry into consciousness and the ethics surrounding medical experimentation.

Céline Mathieu's exhibition, titled 'Lån' (meaning 'loan'), will also run from October 30, 2025, to January 25, 2026. This marks Mathieu's first institutional exhibition in Scandinavia, stemming from her research project 'Conditions for Raw Materials.' The exhibition will explore how intertwined material supply chains and human intimacy shape everyday experiences, utilizing a narrative that combines personal elements with institutional critique.

Lastly, from October 30, 2025, to January 25, 2026, Hanne Lippard will present 'All the same bright,' which will include a sound installation centered around a monolithic stele sculpture. This sculpture serves as a contemporary Rosetta Stone, acting as a focal point in the gallery while producing a continuous drone. Lippard's work examines how multilingual culture can foster new forms of understanding, creating a rich auditory experience that reflects on the complexities of communication across linguistic boundaries.

The exhibitions will be curated by Adam Kleinman and Joe Rowley, who aim to present a diverse range of artistic interpretations that resonate with the current socio-political climate. Kunsthall Trondheim expresses gratitude to the participating artists, their teams, and supporters who contribute to the realization of this program.

This lineup of exhibitions not only showcases the works of contemporary artists but also invites the public to engage with pressing societal questions through the medium of art. As the opening date approaches, further details about each exhibition will be made available, enhancing the community's understanding of the artistic narratives presented within the Kunsthall.
